Quoted from DennisDodel:

Anyone care to guess what's in the box? I drove 1500 miles round trip from St. Louis to Morris, Minnesota and back in 26 hours. Left Friday morning at 6:00 and was back home at 7:00 Saturday morning. It's a treasure that I have been trying to buy from the seller for about two years. We finally agreed on a reasonable price.
If no one can guess the contents of the box, I'll post a few more revealing photos later.

Picked up F-14 Tomcat from a good friend yesterday. About a 5 hour round trip. Happy to have it in the collection.

kegerator? j/k I have no idea, but I did go to the university in Morris back in the early 80's. good times, what I remember of them.

Not a kegerator. Beautiful countryside up there. Very friendly people. Wish I could have stayed longer.

We now know that’s what’s in the box is a Bally!

#9309 5 years ago

One of the last remaining NIB Addams Family?

Barn find.....kinda....actually in a Quonset! 1981 Bally Embryon widebody. She's a big fat heavy monster! Really needs a cleaning and a little sound work. Small playfield wear on the right side upper corner inserts. Everything else works....backglass is perfect! Can't wait to shine her up and get playing!

Whoa. A NIB EM?!?!?!?!?!?

That ain't happening for a while. I have some ideas in mind. Might be just a bunch of bricks in there.

Thanks for the kind words. I figured I would lose a bunch of followers in this thread when it was revealed that it was 'just a bingo'. That's fine. I'm pretty much used to that. I suppose I could have posted the photos in the bingo sub-forum, but that would have made it too easy!
One more photo with the game name covered and then I'll reveal what it is.

I’ll take a guess at the game name - Can-Can, Laguna Beach, Shoot-A-Line, Golden Gate or Silver Sails.

It's one of those. I would never buy a Shoot-A-Line.

We're waiting......

#9340 5 years ago

So, I have a 25% chance of getting the right game. I’ll go with Golden Gate.

I'm not so much into Bingos, but a new S.S. is a hell of a catch!

#9344 5 years ago

57 years in Nebraska and Minnesota weather. What condition will it be in? Most likely the backglass is shot. What else might have happened to the game during that time? Playfield splits? Rusty metal parts? Certainly gummed up, hard motor grease. Dried out leather clutches? What else? There does not appear to have been any water damage to the box. No rodent or insect damage present.

Hoping to end speculation over a few things that have come up over the years regarding new bingos.

Things that I have been told by old operators that have been disputed by some bingo enthusiasts over the years.

1. Bingo paperwork was not included with the games and had to be ordered through the distributor or directly from the factory. Most of us think the paperwork came with the game. I agree with this.

2. Reinforced bingo legs came from the factory that way. Some bingo guys dispute this. I'm 99% sure they came reinforced.

3. Bally shipped their bingos with 'Dead' rubber on the four red playfield posts. Some dispute this and think that dead rubber was added by "greedy" operators. I'm saying that this game will have factory dead rubber installed. (Probably ALL of the rubber is dead by now, but original Bally dead rubber is a grey color and should be easy to identify.)

Anyone have any other questions about this era of game?

I will probably take the game to the fall York show and open the box there. There is a bingo row set up there every year where Nick Baldridge brings his Multi-Bingo and others bring bingos to play. There is also a chance that I will open it at the next Houston show where Shawn Farwell is hoping to unveil his acrylic see-through Golden Gate bingo.

Thanks for playing along.
Not sure what we will find but it will be fun opening the box for all to see.

With it never having bulb heat, and if it had been in dry storage, I think there's a chance
that the glass isn't all that bad..

I hope you are right but I have a few nice originals just in case.

Me and my brother had a pinball adventure yesterday. I finally got a theatre of magic in the lineup and he bought a Twilight zone. Both machines are complete just really dirty. Both will clean up nicely

I’ve already started on the twilight zone restoration.
