I just thought I'd throw a few more pics out because I finally set this up tonight, and it's so damn nice. I always chuckle like a little kid when I lift up the playfield on a game from the 70s and all the mechs are still shiny.

Game wasn't even illuminating or booting, of course the fuse clips were snapping off with a slight touch. Replaced/upgraded the blocks...now she's rolling!

Hahaha...yeah, Pete and my buddy Bruce pointed it out. I like it...kind of morbid with no rhyme or reason.

I get way more excited with stuff like yours than the shiny overpriced ones.

Picked up Doctor Who this weekend from my good friend PinballManiac40! Been waiting a long time to get this game and wife and I have been playing it a lot.

Brought this home two weeks ago. Not sure if I will keep the GI lighting the way it is. Still a great game.

Nice pickup. I hope you don't keep the GI that way since it distorts the playfield artwork. Whites all the way for me in the GI.

Backbox is GI as well. All included in the hopes of dropping the colors.

Super glad you and the wife are enjoying it. And I still get to play it when I stop by. Woohoo!! So it is not out of my reach being just 20 minutes away from me.

Yeah I'm definitely going to get rid of the color GI for sure. Kind of gives me a headache looking at it for to long.

Congrats; been playing a lot of my STNG lately due to a new mod which no one seems to be interested in:

Might want to fix the flipper positioning though.

Hehe. You know how it is when you get one home no matter how 100% the listing, it needs work.

But I ordered up a 100 batch of clear warm Comet leds. And a flipper rebuild is in the works.

Things will be looking up shortly. I love the ‘what the cat dragged in’ nature of this thread. I tend to have to lift the playfield or change some bulbs after buying a machine.

It's actually three more to complete the set... but one is basically unobtainium.

Brought this home today and it's especially great for a few reasons, aside from being a fun lawlor pin with all the features I was looking for in my next game. When I started collecting, the idea of owning a DMD game let alone a Stern game seemed like something I would never be able to do financially. Through a few deals and trades I was able to get the cash for this one and also take my 17 month old son to pick up what I hope is the first of many games we get to clean up and play together.

I love it that you took your son! I have a boy the same age and I have done the measurements to check I could fit him and his seat, the pinball machine and possibly a trolley too in the car. You know, just in case we have to go and 'just have a look' (my usual excuse!) at a machine for sale.

He loves watching the machines and the wheels on the dolly equally at this point but I'm hoping to win him over soon!

Please everyone-- think twice about putting a kid in a vehicle with an untied pinball machine. I say this without judgement, and I did it once or twice before I thought it through. It's just not safe. A small accident can become disasterous once a 300 lb machine flies around inside a car. Hell, it's probably not even safe for any of us, but we make our own decisions and I'm sure we all value our kids' health more than our own.

The most sobering story I had told me by a state trooper concerned how many minor accidents he had seen result in which traumatic injuries were caused by something as mundane as loose groceries or tools becoming projectiles.

Again, not passing judgement, but I think we all need to be more aware of this and put aside the natural excitement of sharing our hobby with our kids.

Big head followed us home on a 18hr round trip. Needs work, but such a fun game!

I have to say I thought about this before. Heard same stories of how even a kleenex box can be an issue. My big concern is the pin flying forward in a hard brake or in what might be a minor accident. I have brought my two boys on a few trips. They can be a big help and makes things fun. They are older but one in the back is in a seat right next to the pin. Don't think I could get all three of my kids in the suv with a pin but admit I gave it serious thought before. Maybe next time I can try to strap down the pin. Not sure that is possible in a suv. Anyone do this?

I always use two large straps to hold The machine down. I drive a Tahoe so it is possible in an SUV. I use the points where the seats attach to the body.

#7847 1 year ago

My Grand Cherokee has tie down hooks in the cargo area. Now of they are for groceries or pinball machines I'm not certain.

#7848 1 year ago

I know anything is possible, but I have to say I've been a paramedic for 15 years. Only once in my entire career in that profession have I seen loose apparatus or items inside of a vehicle cause a significant injury.

Sure with a child in the car, it would be a good idea to try to secure the pin. But I take my daughter with me to get pins all the time. I am much more careful and cautious when she is with me. Your chance is much greater to get T-boned by some idiot texting while they are driving.

There is absolutely no reason to suggest you shouldn't take your kids with you to get games, just be smart, safe and take the proper precautions.
