Just picked up my first machine on Saturday! F-14 Tomcat, played it for an hour then the right flipper let out the magic smoke, ahhh. Time to learn some new skills!!!

If you don't mind me asking, what did you give for it? You can pm me if you'd like. I'm looking at one now, but I think their asking too much.

I hit one out of Louisville last year at $800, and then saw a better one get listed on CL for $650 (it was pretty nice). The thing was that the guy that sold the one for $650 had sent me pics of it and would not give me a price, nor respond when I asked him about it a second time. I would been thrilled to have paid him $650 for his. It of course lasted on CL for the typical 10 minutes.

My Motordome is at the shop as we speak, can't wait to play it.
Do you mind telling me how much you sold it for,i would like to establish a ballpark value .you can pm me for privacy.I'll appreciate it.

I sold it for $850. I do not think it very accurately valued here on pinside.. It is listed on Pinside with a value of $460-$550... but I am sorry the game is from 1986, but IMO any mid-80's that has been totally shopped and serviced is worth $800ish. At any rates I lost money with 30-40 hours I put in to her. But I learned some more about the Bally 6803 board set... so it is all cool.

It's not Royal Rumble because that cabinet is solid black along the back. This cabinet is blue down near the corner.

...and because Royal Rumble is Data East

Quoted from RWH:

The BG's Gottlieb produced simply were the best ever made.

Quoted from Colsond3:

Mine was shot with a ton of spot flaking

lol

I got a glass from Shay this week too. Tis the season he's sending them out.

And IMO Bally made some of the best quality backglasses back in the day. You ever see an original Fireball that needed a new one?

Do you suppose the Bally backglasses being in really nice shape was because they were 3/16" glass rather than 1/8"?
Less rapid heat expansion & contraction - just a theory

#7557 6 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

Actually, I don't think I got in any Bally from the 70s that needed a backglass..

Quoted from dasvis:Do you suppose the Bally backglasses being in really nice shape was because they were 3/16" glass rather than 1/8"?

Prior to 1967 (and maybe into 67), Gottlieb's glasses were 3/16" and the
ones that I have gotten it, the ratio of good glasses to bad were much less
than the Ballys..
Seems like I should know what Gottlieb machine first came out with the
1/8" glass, but I'm not recalling right now..

#7558 6 years ago
Quoted from o-din:

Nice Odiner. Of the people that don't like repro glasses, I don't get it. If one is shot, I don't care if it's original. I would rather have a much prettier new and nice one, even if in some, the colors are a hair off from the original. That's mostly the woodrails though.

It could be the thickness. A lot of Williams glasses, like Gorgar, are often shot. Bally and Gottlieb glasses really are often decent or great.

System 1's in my experience, not so much for some reason. I've had quite a few CE3K's, and those glasses are often flaked. Buck Rogers too. But I've had a few Xenons and Black Holes, and they seem to hold up pretty well.

#7559 6 years ago
Quoted from Colsond3:

Of the people that don't like repro glasses, I don't get it.

Some repros aren't as good as others for sure. But when you get one from Shay, you are almost guaranteed it will be as good as it gets. If only everybody making parts for these games did that kind of work.

Quoted from Mopar:

I don't think I got in any Bally from the 70s that needed a backglass..

I've seen a couple that were pretty bad, but for the most part they seem to hold their paint very well. Like the three Fireballs I had all had perfect glasses and my Skateball and Flash Gordon are still like brand new.

I don't think any of the back glasses prior to 1970 were immune from shedding paint or fading except those that were done on plexi seem to hold up much better. Otherwise there wouldn't have been so many repros made and sold for those games.

I accidently posted the previous pic.
This is the only Bally (from the 70s) glass that
I had gotten in that was in poor shape. The
guy had no clue shipping a glass.
Cardboard and that's it! I placed the bubble
wrap in the pic to keep the USPS ins. from
complaining about the packaging's preparation..
I might add, each piece was mint..

Yea, I traded a different glass for a bgresto O.C. Does the trick..
O.C. is a nice game. If I didn't have another, I would have hung onto
that one. How's the Fun Park. I think you more so had your eye on
getting that one in..
If any other trading pieces happen to come in, maybe we can do it

This is how Steve at BGRESTO recommends packing a backglass
http://bgresto.com/?page_id=777

I sold a used King Pin and took it to Fed-Ex. They did the pack and ship so they were 100% responsible.
Yes, it got their fine.

The batteries expired in 2012 and amazingly there was no leakage whatsoever. I wonder how long they were actually in there?

I guess that's what I should have told the guy to do that sent me
the O.C. glass..
I sent out dozens of glasses, and all problem free, but I remember
that this guy hadn't even written "Glass" on the package..
At least it was insured, so did get a refund..

Long drive 340 miles round trip but I think it is worth it.

Needs some work but it works just dirty, new decals etc. small cabinet repair.

But Congo is a great game.

Picked up a couple more this weekend my second On Beam in a few weeks.

4272015_1203 (resized).JPG4272015_1203 (resized).JPG

Sadly this one will be giving it's life in order for others to live. The score motor and bg (not the greatest but at least it's in one piece) will be going in the On Beam I picked up a few weeks ago. The cab will be used for The Rocket III I got at the same time. I also got this one.

Picked up a Funhouse from the original owner today! He said there has never been a quarter put into it, and I have no reason to disbelieve him. Looks amazing and would be mint other than the old mylar starting to bubble around the pop bumpers. This is probably the nicest all original (even Rudys mouth is original ) funhouse I have seen in over 20 year's. I honestly thought home use only machines of this era were non existing. Any way I plan on holding on to it for now. Here's a few pictures as it sits.
