Backbox and 10 playfields yesterday. My car (Ford C-Max) was full. I had started loading but noticed it wouldn't fit so in the end unloaded everything and loaded again so drop targets and other assemblies wouldn't block eachother.

The load:
Gameplan Sharpshooter backbox + playfield

Playfields:
3x Zaccaria Robot
Dr Dude
Getaway
Magic Castle
Future Spa
unknown Gottlieb sys1 playfield
DE Secret Service

1978 Williams Disco Fever. All in all I'd rate it a 7. Backglass is all there but is juat now starting to deteriorate.

Make sure you seal the backglass with triple thick before it gets any worse

Quite a load

Sharpshooter is no small game. I had trouble cramming it into my vehicle when I found mine. But--I couldn't take the backbox off all the way since I couldn't separate the connectors--I basically just unbolted it and folded it down.

Post of photo of that unknown playfield. I'm sure we can identify it.

I figured it had been a little while since my last purchase so I pulled the trigger last night - thanks panzerfreak for selling me your baby.

Giving back. For those of you wanting pictures for the Pinside Feature Story:
https://pinside.com/pinball/community/pinsiders/pecos/stories/the-unlikely-story-of-em-guy-meets-gottlieb-system-80-the-amazing-spiderman

Brought it home on July 15th. Hope that doesn't disqualify me.

Backglass with most of the red on Spidey flaked away

No leakage with DataSentry battery

asm_bottom_playfield.jpgasm_bottom_playfield.jpg

Original playfield - Lots of planking

Nice replacement playfield!

I can hardly believe I now own a Gottlieb System 80 widebody!

I think I just fell in love based on art alone.

Great story Pecos! I think the restoration of an old piece of history is as much fun as playing them (or it will be if I ever finish one)

#662 8 years ago

Drove 4 hours both ways in the rain to get Helen (AC/DC Pro). She looks like a lot of fun so totally worth the drive.

Thanks Mark. It is fun - perhaps too much fun and certainly rewarding to know that you've brought new life into a piece of history. Problem is, I never seem to get around to playing the games when I've got work (restoration) to do!

#664 8 years ago

Yeah I just read your story, Pecos. Good Luck with the project.

#665 8 years ago

Thanks fellow Hoosier - loved Gas City as a kid. I just ordered a logic probe. Of course I read the comments here at Pinside first and bought the Elenco LP-560. I don't know how to use it yet - still working on that but I figure if I can use it without blowing up a board I'll be doing okay.

IMAG0448_1.jpgIMAG0448_1.jpgI just picked up aPirates of the Caribbean Zizzle from a garage sale today . I'm really having trouble figuring out how people thought Jpop could ever build a great machine after this.

I bought it for $55 and it's sort of fun but the tilt mechanism hardly works . I can't even find the tilt Bob.

BBB #11 finally delivered to Rockland pinball!

Big thanks to Rob (Gwaxt72) for help with the unboxing and lugging into my house

What a game, those capcom flippers sure are snappy! Even those special high power coils made for STTNG can't compare to these!

Missing a few pics from the unboxing which didn't come out too well, it was hard to contain myself and take pics at the same time

Loved seeing the BBB. I was watching for a zizzle or the pin but haven't seen one in awhile. Thought it be good for little kids to learn on.

You should get them on the real thing, much better learning experience if you as me!

I must agree with this, but I must admit that some kids feel a lot more comfortable playing this than a full size machine.

Came in yesterday evening and bought it to save it for future generations. Played fine at sellers but now randomly lockups so now need to figure out why it worked then but not so well now. I can play it for a while then like a get no DMD or backox lights or flipper power, so a power issue somewhere. This is a really strange and rare game so I took a gamble on it. Am I stupid or just a classic guy that wants to keep these alive. Its in really good physical shape except maybe the cabinet. The seller will help me and local pin gurus are available locally so we will get it going and keep it alive.

yeah I know Daniel and his wife quite well (in the same league) and he brought it to me yesterday. He will help and I agree it is cool, I probably would not have taken it but it was in such remarkable nice condition so I jumped in and got a good price. I am thinking of just putting it away in storage and see what happens with these if I need to have room to buy like the next PPS remake or something.

I always loved the cabinet and table art on Mystery Castle.

Mystery Castle is a cool game no doubt!

The issues you're experiencing are hopefully just cables/connectors working loose during transit. Good luck!

Here's a bit of an unusual find. 1975 Allied Leisure Dyn 'O Mite. At first I thought it was an EM.

20150807200521679.jpg20150807200521679.jpg
20150807200658827.jpg20150807200658827.jpg

However, when you open it up....

20150807200644964.jpg20150807200644964.jpg20150807200651353.jpg20150807200651353.jpgopen.jpgopen.jpg

Circuit boards everywhere! From what I can tell, each board basically replaces a particular function/section of an EM's innards. It came with a stack of schematics, which look a little daunting (although most everything is just TTL ICs). It needs a few obvious repairs along the primary electrical path. Considering that all the boards look clean and that it also came with a spare set of boards, I'm thinking I might get lucky.

The playfield is pretty nice for its age. The backglass is perfect. I simply couldn't pass up this odd machine since it looked to be in fairly good shape--which is surprising considering that there's 12,570 plays on the meter.

One very faded HUO Pinbot. The insides are spotless... However, just about all the red is gone from the back glass and playfield plastics.
