Chad, another one already? You are totally out of control dude. You and gdonovan should sponsor each other for the support group. LOL.

I have never even seen this WWF in person let alone played one. What's it like?

Haven't set it up yet. I'll let you know tomorrow! But now it's time to watch "Get Out"

That's it! I didn't buy anything at Allentown. This was my purchase instead. Out of space now. So the only other new additions would be via trade only.

3 arm kid is freaking me out - lol jk

#5205 2 years ago
Quoted from RonSS:

That's impressive, and frightening at the same time.
I have still been scouring CLIST every morning. ..... and night. You know, just in case someone is selling for pennies on the dollar.
I've only got room for 1 though, ok probably 2. Yeah, I could definitely fit 2, maybe 3 if ......

I was never one to do things by halves.

We have moved from the first stage "ok we like pinball lets pick some up" to identifying what we like about various games and looking for pins similar features.

Current line up is Night Rider, Ding Dong, CC Moon Shot, Olympic Hockey, Touchdown, Hi-Flyer, Ship Ahoy and Time Zone.

In the workshop:

Grand Tour and Heatwave (getting repaints and in case of GT full resto)
Knockout (selling to friend after tune up)
Lucky Hand (sold and being shipped this week)
Orbit (up and running but need to tune and evaluate)
Klondike (been monkeyd with, need to diag and evaluate)

Night Rider and Olympic Hockey are the clear favorites for 2x player while my wife likes Hi-Flyer and Ding Dong for single play. I lean towards Touchdown and Moon Shot and our designated resident Gottlieb Ship Ahoy. The CC Moon Shot has a charm I can't put my finger on and a tough game with those 2" flippers and wide spacing. Touchdown with its speed and voracious out lanes is favorite and very much like the Hockey game which sizzles too.

Time Zone isn't going to make the cut I think, just one of those games that looks cool and has some cool features and theme but isn't gelling for either of us. As you can tell we like EM's very much, though I'm keeping an eye out for an SS title and even looked at a few wood rails to round things out.

I'm considering opening a part time business doing repair of EM's here in SE CT, no one else offers the service and my automotive restoration and troubleshooting skill set is serving me well in this venue.

Edit:

Technically I have had 16 pins in the last 3 months, 17 if you extend out another month to the first one. 3 have been sold or traded.

Sold a pin
and brought this original dedicated PAC-Man home. Didn't work, "it was just a fuse!" Score! It was in an Arcade then in the Arcade Owner's house.
Now I have it! Cheers!

Me got you....again. Brought this back home from the guy in Long Island I sold it to last year. Didn't hesitate given the excellent condition and NOS backglass.

And in true pinball illness form, checked out the ol' let go app on the way up and found a second game in Brooklyn to pick up on the way home. I have issues.

2 Bally zipper flippers: 1969 Bally Op Pop Pop and a rare 1967 Bally Surfers.

Won the Op Pop Pop on ebay Thursday from seller Rob Berk. As I planned Friday to make a trip to pickup the game, the thought of an 8 hour round trip to Warren, OH for just one game seemed wasteful. So, Friday night about midnight after watching too many YouTube zipper flipper game videos, I see a CL ad that is 11 hours old for Surfers in Northwest PA and another Pinsider posting about the sale. I quickly fire off emails to the seller and then stress for the next two hours why there is no response (Duh! Normal people go to bed). Has the game been sold already? Are my emails going to a spam folder? I somehow get about 4 hours sleep and then around 8 am start to get a response from the seller. Game was still available and we work a deal for a Saturday night pickup. Head out at 10:20 am Sat and return home this morning 18 hours and 920 miles later. I need to go to work tomorrow so I can get some rest

Very nice! That's one i would like to have at my place one day. I wish we had more original/dedicated cabs here in Australia but they seem to be pretty rare.

So, transporting on the side is OK? I thought I read one time that was a no no. Enlighten me!

Extreme times call for extreme measures!! Really you shouldn't transport them on the side...it can create switch issues or other mechanical problems, but mainly because the playfield is not supported in that position. It can bang against the glass, potentially causing damage to plastics and other components from bouncing around. I padded them both with several pieces of bubble wrap to fill the void under the glass though, and it was only an hour and a half home, so they didn't have to stay like that long. Playing Gorgar right now...LOL. Old Chicago needs a little work already, so I wasn't concerned.

Arguably, you shouldn't transport them upside down either. I've never seen that done, but I'm sure someone has seen it happen. DMD or any other hinged (fold down) games shouldn't be transported on the side generally either, as the game doesn't sit flat. You could tear the wood where the hinges connect due to the uneven weight distribution.

I see an Old Chicago there.. nice! fun pin, those lower pops right above the "outlanes" are butal.

I did a restoration on a $120 beater last year & it turned out really, really nice. The pinball pimp stencil set is top drawer & the CPR repro backglass is superb.

I'm going to hit you up as I go through this one then...if you don't mind. Has a few issues, and might need some pics. Backglass on this one is perfect though...definitely a bonus. Pops down there are brutal on every game that has them, had a Fan-Tas-Tic before, and I like how it makes gameplay different having them right near the flips. But while fun, they can pop it right down the drain too.

The Ted Zale "zipper flippers" are out there.
Their return popularity is not a complete surprise regarding collections once people discovered the features again.

Superb example of Nip-It (Bally, 1973) that spent most of life in a private home.
Playfield has no planking, a solid Tuff-Coat, and just the tiniest bits of ball trail wear and insert edges.
According to the play meter only a little over 26K+ players in over 44 years, and the meter does not look like rolled after disassembly and inspection. They just do not make games like this anymore, especially the backglasses.

The game was solidly hallmarked into pinball history forever with Bally's agreement with ABC regarding the title's use on "Happy Days" even though the game is completely out of context in terms of its use in the 1950s period sitcom, but still went on to be the highest rated TV show of the decade. There is another entire story regarding the use of this game and decision with Garry Marshall.

I am preparing to re clean the playfield, spot touch up and clear coat a few tiny spots, wax, and replace all the rubber rings as it has been a few years since the game has been shopped out. The final touch is replacement of "Gator Button" decal.

The last of the Ted Zale games I needed to acquire for my collection.
Another is just awaiting a reproduction from this NOS backglass.

As Fonzie would say, "AAAAAyy".

Picked up one of my grails over the weekend! Needs a GOOD shop job. One burned connector, no GI, and some oxidized metal, but the price was right and it was right in my backyard. Boards look great, but the rest of the game is filthy. Also missing a flasher above the trap door. My buddy Mike also picked up another CV (currently for sale or trade) and one of his grails, a TOM.

Did you get a good price on it?

#5233 2 years ago
Quoted from wolv3:

I would like to think I did! I got it for $4200 out the door. Of course they didn't have the key to the main box, so I took a bit of a chance. But the shooter lane and scratchy hole looked pretty much intact. I guessed that it wasn't played very much and basically received no maintenance. After I got it home and drilled out the lock, it looks like I guessed right. All the bags were still sealed and stapled inside and the audit says ~3000 plays total which seems low to me considering that is about as many as is on my KISS machine I bought a year ago. I also found the original receipt showing it was purchased in 2005.

I want to play it so bad, but it really needs to be torn down and cleaned up first. So far so good, but it's going to take a while.

Our one and only solid state in a room full of EM's came home today. I was "meh" about the gameplay but perhaps some extended playing will change my mind or the boys will take a shine to it. Seller gave me a very good deal on it so worth giving it a chance.
