Arby's when they had *real* roast beef sandwiches.
When Arby's changed to their processed junk - a few local restaurants didn't go with the flow... changed their names to Barnard's and continued to serve real roast beef sandwiches. Unfortunately, none of them survived.

How about Chubbyville - the next McD and Burger King competitor. Fizzled without a trace.

    Quoted from eggbert52:

    Godfather's is alive and well.

    Yup, ate there Wednesday night.
Bill Cole, the guy that did the Godfathers commercials years ago, used to do the sermon readings at church when we were kids. You always expected him to end it with his "do it!" slogan.

We still have a Lums near us at Offutt AFB. It's $5 for a hotdog now! Rather go for the liver and onions platters.

OK -- since Lums was mentioned, I went there to eat lunch today.
Last time I was there was in the late 1980s. It was like walking into a time machine. Same 1970s furnishings, same menus (tons of marked out lines and stickers to change prices) and probably the same old customers. Pretty run down. Expected the cook to come out from the kitchen with a dirty shirt, cigarette hanging out of his mouth and spatula placed in his armpits.
    Eeesh!
