So many to choose from but here are two of my old favorites:

    Quoted from Darcy:

Ponderosa, cafeteria style, walk in Steak place.

Still quite a few around Orlando.

A lot of these places still have a restaurant or two around. Most are a regional thing.

Two more that I miss but are still around in the Cleveland area:

I would kill for a Romanburger from Mr. Hero.

    Quoted from Tanooki:

I know double post, but I have to ask.
Is it a coincidence? Chi-Chi's restaurant, and then in Louisville Ky there's a bottling and food plant that makes Chi Chis salsa and also this tub of taco mix. I love their salsa (hot) more than anything put it on all sorts of stuff. They do ship nationally as I could get it out in CA too. The logo is 100% identical with the red-white printing and that exact lettering font too on the bottle.
    See?
    http://www.chichis.com/
The about thing on the page mentions born in Mexico and having a restaurant. IT could be the same, because the restaurant page has Belgian, maybe they bought the dead chain and went international? The site I linked there says it's the same salsa and other stuff they served at their restaurants.

No coincidence, Hormel bought the name to sell salsa in the states. You can still find restaurants in China, Belgium, Luxembourg, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait and Indonesia according to Wikipedia. I knew about Hormel and the salsa but didn't know there were actual restaurants in other countries.

Also there are still CiCi's in Florida. Thank god I'm not a broke college student but even if I was I doubt I could eat there.

    Quoted from MrBally:

Or Wuv's? Great burgers and awesome onion rings. Ate at them in the Detroit area as well as one on Lake Street in Elmhurst, Illinois. Their signature drink was "Wuv Juice". An old GF had fun with that when we would go there.
Wuv's was the one I wish survived.

There was a Wuv's in the mall by my grandparent's house. They went bankrupt in 81 but they did have some good food when they were open.

There were a few of these around when I was a kid. I think there is just one left now in Cleveland out by the porn district.

    Quoted from o-din:

In good news I have been told that Del Taco is now going nationwide. The same one that has been near me since the late 60s is still in operation and I had lunch there yesterday. It was very good and the food is identical to what is was over fourty years ago. They have added some items along the way, but they never felt the need to change fries or anything else. Good, fresh, cheap fast food. One of the reasons I don't do Taco Bell.

Whenever I'm in Orlando I try and hit up the Del Taco. Like you said for fast food it is good and in my opinion blows away other places.

I remember going to Friendlys as a kid in Cleveland. There are still a few of them around Florida, one of them on I-drive in Orlando.

    Quoted from OLDPINGUY:

You have to move to Orlando, Rob!

Without a doubt there are a lot more games to play in Orlando. I do like being by the gulf though and decent traffic even in season. Seems like someone I know bought a place here too for those reasons....... If you ever retire one day.

    Quoted from usandthem:

I like the thread and it got me thinking of a few for sure. But most restaurants mentioned on the thread were national or large regional chains. Chains blow. Good riddance. Seek out and enjoy great Mom and Pop restaurants before they all give way to Yum brands and Darden group garbage.

Chains used to be good. There are still some good sit-down chains but most fast food has fallen hard. McDonalds and Burger King actually served burgers years ago. As one person already stated even Taco Bell used all real ingredients years ago.

Naugles reopens but is overwhelmed by crowds: 'We completely ran out of food'

    http://www.ocregister.com/articles/ziebarth-674484-naugles-hours.html

Lines again wrapped around the building. Some customers reported waiting more than 45 minutes to order food. One woman fainted.

Must be some good stuff. Man I love Mexican food.
