I can choose big buck hunter but game of thrones doesn't even make the list?

I feel like I am taking crazy pills!

Led Zeppelin premium is my favorite by far. Anyone who has had a decent game on it knows just how fun and satisfying it is. I think I’ve spent a decent amount of time on all of the Stern pins that have come out in the past 5 years except GOTG and Ghostbusters.

That wouldn’t let me put anymore on the pole. Sorry

Maiden is the perfect example of why toys are over valued. Deadpool is another one. Fun layout with great rules.
It helps that I have a maiden premium. I enjoy the lifting ramp and captive ball lock. I enjoy playing the pro just as much.

At first, I was *right there* with you, until you said "Deadpool is another one.", and then...then, I started backing away rather quickly. I understand, and agree with, your basic point (that toys *can be* overvalued, especially when they compromise/substitute for good playfield design), but I feel that Deadpool's design flaws are what keep it from being included in that part of the conversation.

I'm not at all surprised to hear that you enjoy playing the Pro of Maiden, but I'm honestly surprised that you find the Premium to be effectively "better", which I completely don't. While the captive ball lock is "neat", it's certainly nowhere *near* anything that I'd call "essential", and the lift ramp, to me, is a complete waste of time, bill of materials, and brings nothing more to the machine...I'd rather have the Pro. Now, I don't dislike the Premium, that's not what I'm saying at all...but for my money, time, etc. I'd be more inclined to get a Pro. That's just me, though.

EHOH and IRMD all the way. Theme, rules/depth, and artwork are all top notch.

The captive ball is an option I don't really care about. I do like the ramp going up and down. I only brought them up because those could be considered "toys" I did work a few deals and traded up my pro to a premium. This was right before things went crazy. If I had to spend an extra $2000 to $2500 in today's pricing I would have keep the pro.

    Quoted from Jackontherocks:

Love Maidens music but wish it had at least half of the toys like Metallica pin, still Maiden plays fast and fun but I feel repetitive up the middle, probably will buy either of the two next as debating.

Remember that it's a four flipper pin as well. Not toys, but if you're concerned with coil count, the premium ain't bad at all.

I know but can’t help wanted little more in maiden, still fun to play. So would u pick maiden over Metallica over new GNR for a one pin collection?

I dont think you can go wrong on this ,I would take either of these choices and be happy. I have 2 of those 3 now and may make it 3 of 3 soon.maybe metallica 1st

Absolutely. The game has way better code and has the perfect variety of difficulty. Metallica is fun, but wood choppy. The code isn't as good. Gnr suffers from what most jjp machines suffer from, code that makes the game feel flat. DI is their best, but it too is lackluster in its code, particularly the multiballs.

The loop- orbit-captive ball combos in Maiden are crazy. The nuances in strategy are unmatched. Sweep the drops on the way to the underworld. Nail mummy on your way around the orbit then to loops. There are countless examples.

Keith spent a lot of time on the design and code before he worked for stern. That's why it will always be his best. It's probably the best game ever made. I've been playing pinball for 30+ years, and I'm not a stern fan, but I'll call it when I see it.

Thanks for the info, appreciate it. Maiden is fast and fun for me, love the band and that the scoring is higher for a Stern as most recentl Stern or any manufacturers use low scoring, Metallica kicks my butt more and I tend to have shorter games, still love the hammer, drop cross targets, and sparky, and I have not played the new GNR but most JJP as gorgeous as they look I still have the no flow effect and hate the low scoring.

I like four Sterns above the rest from past the past three years. They are all tightly packed together on list, so IMDN is not preferred much more than EHOH. For a mere $27k, you can own them all.
IMDN (pro) > JP2 (premium) > DP (pro) > EHOH (premium)

Don't tempt me! LOL! But I agree totally!

The first time I played Star Wars it was a pro it was pretty much a bare playfield and it sucked. I recently ran into a premium and a premium comic version. The game kicks ass. If I had the cash I would buy one in a second, I think it’s that good. But, I want a Turtles and if they do BTTF I’m going to want that.

    #216 1 year ago

Love SW premium (comic) but all versions are fun, just so short ball time I’m not getting that far but it’s a blast to play.

I typically run a small collection at home. Anywhere between 1-4 pins. I had maiden for a few years and I wouldn’t call it a good one pin collection game. It’s one of those games that is super fun to revisit from time to time (every other month) because it is so good, but you really need another pin to help support the down times with it. In my 2-3 years of ownership, I think I had around 600 plays? Give or take. I’ve doubled that with GNR in only 8 mos of owning it lol.

Star Wars and GOT are epic one game collection games IMO. The amount of breadth and depth is some of sterns best.

I can see your point on GOT, but not SW or JJPGNR. I can get with the idea of IMDN being a got-to-have-more-than-one machine, but it does stand the test of time, as you allude to.

In my home right now they fall into this order:
    Mando
    Deadpool
    Stranger Things
    TMNT
    Tron LE
    TSPP
    BKSOR
    JP
    LZ
    AIQ

    #220 1 year ago

BKSOR, it knows what it wants to be, what it is and is just perfect pinball. Completely opposite in style, I’d also go JP2; I enjoy it more each time I play it. Had been playing BKSOR the most but had to put a great pause on it due to carpal tunnel from nudging it so often, especially to keep the ball alive in the upper pf. Therefore been spending a lot more time on JP and it’s very rewarding to know the ruleset, where you’re at in the story/adventure and being able to compare to previous sessions. Sometimes I play for points, sometimes for progression, but I can literally see myself becoming a better pin player every session. No better feeling than hitting 6-way ramp combos as they are so quick/furious. Oh, and the movie code has some of the best one liners in pinball.

Out of the list, my least fav would easily be TMNT and DP. It’s all subjective!

    1. Stranger Things
2.-50. Doesn't matter. Stranger Things is my all time favorite out of 50 pins.

There’s a reason IMDN always wins these polls .There’s shots everywhere ,and all are important .It’s like a rock bands first album .They spent years putting those songs together and perfecting them .Then after famous and under contract they’re forced on a timeline from there on and it’s not as complete.Does that makes sense ?
