Too many to list... but I am old school... Pinbot's visor was the coolest toy at the time, but then toys really took off after that... seems hiding something from plain view that you had to reveal in order to score it/hit it was the basis for every real good toy after that... and the drop bank toy suddenly became the basis for more toys to come, including DW's Time expander.

After I had the poll all ready to go, and clicked save, I kept getting red error messages.

I sent a pm to TigerLaw for help, and then the next time I tried it worked fine.

So that is where the last option came to be, after I was having trouble I accidently hit create another answer.

Also, I wanted to make it to where you could vote for 3 things, but the only option I seen was 1, or as many as you would like to, so have at it!

I will be voting for what I know, the ship in JJPPOTC and Sparky in MET.

After I get to play EHOH and see how good the house is I may use my 3rd vote there.

No rules now, abbreviate all you want, I just wanted everything typed out so I could copy/paste for the poll, and everyone would easily know what it was.

After reading the list, thinking to myself, If I had just one wish from all the things pinball related as the best "toy" in the box, I am going to have to go with one that makes every modern day machine what it really is, and it isn't even technically a toy, but it is ubiquitous now, almost required by every machine made. Yes I am talking about the auto-plunger.

Without the auto plunger, half of the spectacle of the "show" these days would not be available. Coupled of course with any (usually extra costly) on-table physical ball locks, it makes every multiball start something that can happen at any time and during any event. No more need to physically stop the ball just to start a multiball.

You could take every other toy and ditch it as long as it can start and play multiball, because that is my favorite toy.
It is why when combined with great bash targets like in MB, and you have great multiball modes to go with it, there is nothing more satisfying than keeping multiple balls in play, and not just trapping up and shooting with 1, but "juggling" all of them at once.

I think this was the attraction of TNA, which, for some reason just didn't connect with me, but that was based more on theme than game play for me. As a former nuclear reactor operator for the US Navy, reactor shutdowns was just not something we liked to do.

The novelty wears off after a couple decades but the supercharger on HSII.

    #55 2 years ago

    Wonkavator deserves an honorable mention

    #56 2 years ago

The tron spinning disc is worth mentioning especially with the clear pads. I remember when I first got it I had never played it before. When that happened the first time it went sdtm at about 100 miles an hour. I had no clue what just happened....and it was AWESOME

    Quoted from pinmister:

Funny with our differences in opinions. Some of peoples favorite machine toys are the exact reason why I chose not to buy the Premium/LE and go Pro. I can't stand coffin lock-clunky and kills flow(plus do not care for huge view obstructing hammer). Moving T-Rex-meh just a supped up DE version to me and more of a interruption/flow killer.
For me it would be the Star Wars Hyperloop followed closely by BDK & BM66 Crane Toy.

I very much like an "interruption/flow killer", gives me a second to breath and appreciate the machine and what is going on.
I love when machines hold the ball and let you look up at the screen animations or at whatever is going on on the PF

    #58 2 years ago

I already get my fill of stop and go flow killing when I play Lawlor games. I prefer speed and flow-big Ritchie fan here. One of the worst offenders recently is Elwin's Jurassic Park pop up stop in flipper lane. Worst flow killer offender. Just in the last week I have watched two different newbie guest play it and when the pop up stalls ball for animation video people look up-get distracted and then watch their ball drain because they did not know what was happening. After the first half a dozen times of disrupting ball flow-it gets old quick. No need to kill flow in pinball, if I want a break I will take it in-between turns or balls played.

I forgot about Big Lebowski bowling lane toy. Cool toy but a bit of a novelty and the fun factor wears off quickly. While the JJP POTC ship is cool, not sure I consider it a toy- but more of a main feature. It is a mini playfield that rocks back and forth, and does have great detail.

Sparky does take the cake for a center bash toy, followed closely by Monger and Black Knight

    #59 2 years ago

Does sling-sling-outlane count as a toy?

If not, I like the spinning TMNT pizza multi ball quite a bit. Something about the magnet holding the three balls on the spinning disc and then them flying off brings a smile.

To each his own .... that's one of the things I was thinking about that I liked

I ended up changing my vote after some thought

The Star Wars Hyperloop is an engineering marvel but is it a toy or more of a visual feature? The pleasure is hitting the fork ramp to initiate the Hyperloop usually during a hurry-up. While it is a satisfying shot and feature, I still think I find more enjoyment hitting the BDK Crane with a shaker motor added. Cradling the ball and trying to hit at the right moment with a good amount of risk vs reward. Changing my vote to BDK Crane #1 Toy(Need to add-BM66/BDK to vote category)

The magnetic ring in lotr. Even better with Niro’s lightening.

    Love that one.

I'm kind of offended that the crane toy is attributed to BM66 rather than BDK, and that's precisely where I fell in love with that toy.

I greatly look forward to being able to try out P3 Multimorphic's "Heist!" to give their version of a crane a proper shot. It certainly does look impressive to me.

Different kind of crane. I understand your point, but the crane in BDK and BM66 are identical, and this is different, just as the crane in "Heist!" is also different.

Well I forgot about that toy - its a lot of fun!

Surprised to see Monster Bash left out of the fun. Frankenstein and Dracula are both cool toys. Drac is still one of my favorite toys in pinball and you will find a similar toy in DI and Mick on a Stick. But no one does it better than Monsterbash. Also Frank is super cool too.

The weirdo alien ball locks in BBB are awesome.

Oh and the robot pop ups in Robot are amazing.

The bowling alley in The Big Lebowski. It cannot be compared to any other toy in pinball, its in its own league.

Seconded. I do love that bowling alley!

You know, as against-the-grain-for-me as that is, I have to agree with you on that. When new, Tron's disc was absolutely *RIDICULOUS* in its treatment of players, hilariously so. You honestly couldn't defend against it, it was so fast in flinging it back down at you.

I actually bought an entire new spinning disc assembly for mine to allow it to return to that state. Here's hoping that it works correctly.

LOTR Ring (was already mentioned twice)

    Magna-slings on Ghostbuster

memory of a lifetime... Pinball Expo 2014. Having to jostle The Big Lebowski to free up the ball stuck in the bowling alley to get the upper playfield ball to release again......didn't realize it at the time, but Gary Stern was there, watching it happen, drink in hand.

The triple level Mini-playfield of the Doctor Who Bally pinball. Twin ball locks with a center target that later players can hit and claim a ball lock. Level two and the troublesome 5 mushroom Opto switches that have to be hit 15 times to take the MPF to level 3. Level 3 during multi-ball of 3 balls, the key is to hit all 3 Dalek hanging targets to get the big score. Then it times out and takes you back down to level 1 where you start all over again to lock 2 balls. I love the mechanism rising and falling almost as much as seeing Bride of Pinbots Head spinning with ever more provocative poses.

The mist multiball magnet on BSD is super rad, that gets my vote.

    #77 2 years ago

I'm a little late this thread, my vote would be for the powerball on Twilight Zone.

    #78 2 years ago

Please rebuild or when come time for vault on Iron Maiden add toys that are missing from the great game such a shame

    #80 2 years ago

Old school, but how can we not mention Banzai Run. The entire back glass is a second pinball machine and lifting the ball from the main playfield up to is was pretty slick!

    #81 2 years ago

Surprised that the World Cup Soccer goalie has not been mentioned. Love that one.

I'm a little late this thread,

I had totally forgot about all of this.

It was a lot of work, but I enjoyed taking all the suggestions for the poll.

    I learned a lot!

At this point I doubt I could add any new suggestions to the poll, but if a moderator wants to, go for it!

    I love Pinside!

    Power playfield in tz.

Getting three balls up there during power mb is the most epic mb experience in pinball.

Up top during Khan in Shadow is a close second.

    #84 2 years ago

The crane on Batman The Dark Knight.

    #85 2 years ago

Groot in guardians. Love when you get the multiball, how fast they shoot out

    #86 2 years ago

TZ Power Ball! C’mon this is so cool!

    #87 2 years ago

    So many great toys!!

    #88 2 years ago

    “Why, thank you THING!”

Thing was why I would play TAF. Amazing.

    #89 2 years ago

Rudy has to be the best. Cmon a talking dummy that talks and spits out pinballs!! It doesn't get any better than that.

    #90 2 years ago

    Another for Stern POTC ship
    BDK crane
    Dracula mist multiball
