Picked up a working TOTAN for $1k back in October. It was filthy but in great shape. I’m about 90% of the way through the restoration now.

There are tons of people with stories of finding games for nothing a long time ago. The more recent ones shock me a little bit but they are still out there.

My most recent great find was an $800 fishtales about four months ago.

    #10 6 years ago

NIB RR WOZ for $9500. I am not very good at finding deals but I love that game!

Funny, I got mine for $50, it had bad decals, right hand side of the back box needed replaced and a bad trough opto. (Truck stop)

    #18 6 years ago

I'd like to start a different thread called "What games did you grossly over pay for?" I could list most of mine. Such as $7,000 for a TOTAN that when it showed up at my house, turned out to be a flood damaged machine.

    #19 6 years ago

$200 Bally Lost World, all it needed was a new rectifier board post and rubber kit and a good cleaning.

Are you purposely being annoying or do you think all of your posts about normal transactions from 20 years ago are relevant? That's a serious question.

Topic: What is your best find
Answer : Relevant Yes. No time frame mentioned in "Heading" of this topic.
Issue : Your attitude . It is not friendly. If you are annoyed . Envy not a healthy mind set.
Be glad you have a good career . And you have the means to purchase 17 pinball machines since 2016.
Be (cool). Respond with (tact and diplomacy) or keep your thoughts to your self . Golden Rule.

Eight Ball - 150. It needed a CPU and a bunch of work. And it will always be a players game. But it was a deal. It's been played many thousands of times in my house. I've lent it out for probably another thousand games at a friends house. It's cheap and cheerful, but it will frustrate you so bad you will want to just flip it over. Should I level the inserts? Should I replace the playfield? Yes to both, but I doubt I ever will. It has a nasty disposition that makes it perfect.

    #36 6 years ago

A year and a half ago I got a nice fish tales with no fade for $900.
It just fell into my lap. A friend of mine bought a house and the previous owner had it in a trophy room. He wanted to sell it to make space for more taxidermy.

    #37 6 years ago

I had a lucky year. Capt Fantastic for $100, been in the guys family since the mid 80's. Eight ball for $250, only needed a new coil and some board work on the sdb. Lost World for $400 that someone had painted the cab in white latex but played great. Medusa in separate parts and ugly for $800. Star trek for $350. Luckily fir me very few people in my neck of the woods wouldn't look twice at a game without a dmd.

    #38 6 years ago

In the past 18 months, I found a few good deals:

    T2 $700
    Future Spa $300
    Pharaoh $100

    #39 6 years ago

    I suck at finding deals...

Huo wcs for $2000. Not smoking but it was verifiable huo with goodie bag and absolute no wear or fade.

Together with two fellow collectors, we bought ~10 Sega Naomi arcade games for next to nothing from an operator warehouse, then the next day traded the lot of them for 8-9 nice A- and B-list pinball games from a pinball/arcade shop.

    #43 6 years ago

$300 Baywatch, last year, fantastic shape, a bit dirty

    #44 6 years ago

With pinball? Hard to say. Free Harlem Globetrotters is playing pretty sweet these days. Certainly not the most valuable thing someone was about to throw away that I aquired but I like it the best. I bought a HUO BTTF for $600 years ago. No, I do not still have it.

I found a handheld game for $5 that I sold for $850 some years ago. That was shocking when I looked it up on eBay.

Monetarily, it's funny how that seems to change. It is probably a broken Star Wars arcade game that I paid $150 for 13 years ago. I am still surprised it sells for how much it does these days but I guess it's just a timeless classic.

Non gaming stuff... I bought a collection of 500 LPs when I was helping a friend look over a broken Firepower he was interested in buying. I asked how much for the records and the guy says $60. I had the $ in his hand before the word "bucks" came out of his mouth. There were so many sweet albums in there. None of them were worth hundreds of $ but I can say conservatively that 100 of them were worth $10-$30. No reissues, all in good shape: Kraftwerk, King Crimson, Doors, Floyd, ACDC, Sabbath, some good soul, Beatles, Beach Boys, Bowie, Police, Clash, Cash, ect.
