I have a jungle lord that I am restoring. I finally got all the boards working and the game boot into attract mode. I add coins but can’t start the game. I looked in the cabinet and noticed that nothing is attached to the backside of the start button and I found 3 clipped wires. What do I need to fix the start button?

A schematic, a new leaf switch, and two wood screws.

I think that switch has a diode, so you need the schematic or a few good pics showing what you need.

PBResource for parts.

Does anyone have a picture that can show me what it should look like. Maybe for a black knight or some other system 7 game.

This pic is of my Williams EM Olympic Hockey. It will look something like this

You need a green/brown and a white/orange wire and a diode. The diode mounts on the white wire with the band facing the switch.

Thanks grumpy!! I was just about to ask if this was it. Wonder what that other cut wire is for?

Unfortunately I am color blind, I have to have help in identifying colors but they are the 3 cut wires in the middle of the picture. I can identify the white orange. I think one is light green brown and the other one is green?

No.

You need something like this.

Or this.

Well the colors are very important if you want to know where it goes.

And a 1N4007 diode.

“Well the colors are very important”

I will get my son to help me with the color so we can trace it.

Last question, when soldering the wires on the switch does the white/orange wire go on the bottom and the green brown on the top

#12 3 years ago

Wire the switch like my pic. Make sure the diode goes on in this direction. And don't make fun of my MS paint abilities.

Nice job, Grumpy!

Are both wires green/brown? That wire may continue to another switch. If so, both go to the same side of the switch.

They maybe I am going to trace the wire back and see where it goes

If they are the same color you will connect them like this.

Start button is now working. Thanks for the help.

Now there are a bunch of leaf switches that need cleaning. What is the best way to clean them? I have heard blue emery cloth or a business card or isopropyle alcohol.

Other issue is the right side flippers Upper or Lower do not fire, nor do the out hole sauces that are on the right side. The Left flippers are working as they should.

Any suggestions?

Clean your switches with a business card or alcohol. I have also used a Q tip dipped in alcohol to clean. Afterwards, I use a meter to make sure the switch makes and breaks the way it supposed to. Set meter to ohms.

Look closely at the wires for the right side flippers. You may have a broken wire.

The cleaning method depends on the type of switch contacts. Gold contacts/the dollar bill and alcohol. Silver contacts/burnishing tool or stainless steel brush in a Dremel tool. Tungsten contacts/a metal file.

Start by testing for power at the coils, look for a burnt fuse under the play field or a broken power wire at one of the coil lugs.
