They are to raise the flipper bat above the play field to prevent flipper drag.
I have a stash of brass washers from the local hardware store for purpose of lifting the flippers.
I bought a small package of those rings from PL and then proceeded to lose them somewhere in my growing mountain of parts.
At PL site they are called “nylon flipper shaft spacer”. 25 cents each.
Quoted from slochar:Usually flipper drag happens when the flipper bushing gets cracked and cants to one side, or when it's really worn down. The washer helps to prevent wear on the bushing, it's not strictly 100% necessary, depending on the condition of your bushing.
Here is a good place for this question.
How is it that the flipper axis is not perpendicular to the play field. Is the flipper bracket somehow someway tweaked “out of square”?
