Here's something I was thinking about...wondering what frustrates people the most in the game.

According to two guys on this site, seeing a pin fall off the truck or trailer and tumble down the road. :0

Spending 6k on nib and hating it...my worst

For me, none of the play related stuff is even comparable to when something goes wrong with a machine, especially when you don't have tons of free time to work on them.

Draining that last ball with eb lit.

worst feeling in own collection is messing something up worse than it was (like oops I shouldn't have crossed those wires, which FET or diode did I fry?).

Worst feeling in public setting is finding out the flippers don't work after you've shoved a dollar in

    #8 6 years ago

The slingshot directly shooting the ball into the outlane.

    #9 6 years ago

Having the playfield drop on your head (bonus points for a modern widebody like TNG and soon to be WoZ).

Best/worst pinball injuries thread would be both depressing and sobering for noobs...

    #10 6 years ago

Ball draining when you have close to one more shot for the wizard mode in plenty pins.

    #11 6 years ago

realizing you were duped/scammed on a purchase of a machine.

+1! done that a couple times, once my own fault, once the dam bar fell out of the pocket. Nothing like a solenoid bracket coming down on your head

    #13 6 years ago

Busting a blood vessel in my hands when I slamtilt a pos route game that screws you mercilessly.

Taking shortcuts which result in a permanent scratch

bad things happen during gameplay...but it's never really final until the game poops out those locked balls at you and there's nothing you can do to stop them from draining

    #16 6 years ago

Accidentally closing the coin door on your junk when doing maintenance in the buff.....

    #17 6 years ago

Getting the Wizard mode lit with extra ball in hand and still not starting it. With sling to outlane drain and SDTM house balls on next ball

    #18 6 years ago

Doing awesome on one game, and then never doing good again.

Leaving the coin door open, and your cat jumps inside and you have to pull her out by her tail and suffer several bites .

Not game related but I was recently waxing my playfield and noticed early signs of planking -

    #20 6 years ago

Epic game and door swings open (fixed).
Epic game and ball stuck on PF (sucks)

Being second in line for a game you've been trying to track down for a year

Done that ..lit DH on fire before..1 pin off on the secondary wiring harness..

    not fun at all !

talking on the phone while putting the game back together...

a very annoying and costly distraction..

I have to agree with Ctozzi, 6k plus nib or used, and then realizing the effort to love the game over time just wasn't worth my time!

    #26 6 years ago

Broken pin on location at a convenient site.

I got a NASCAR nearby where starting ANY mode is an instant drain. But it's SO. CLOSE.

AGREED. That is a lot of coin to not enjoy the purchase.

Bumping something with the screwdriver under the playfield with power on and frying something when you were almost done with a "quick & simple fix"

    breaking a pristine backglass.

then feeling a little better when you find out it's on CPR's "to do" list.

but feeling bad again when you read about how long some of those CPR "to do's" take to do...

For me it's when things stop functioning correctly! Never fails to happen when, like today, it's a holiday and people will be over and want to play the machine.............

No one likes a game not functioning correctly, at least I don't.

    #35 6 years ago

Having to sell off a game to make room for another. After alot of years and tweaking the collection its getting harder and harder these days. The question becomes, should I sell off a older game or sell of the game I'm thinking of keeping ?? UGH !!

This was a great poll. When I first read the title I thought, "I love pinball, how many bad feeling could there be?" Then as I read down the list I kept thinking, "Oh, that's a good one. That's another fine suggestions. THAT TOO is pretty frustrating." Ha-ha! Ultimately I had to go with a machine not functioning properly, because if the functionality isn't there you don't have the luxury of experiencing any of those other frustrations. ...but then again, there's the high of actually figuring-out and fixing the problem.

Eventually finding your dream machine on free play during a Pinshow, the one you have been waiting to play for several **decades**,

    Queing behind someone playing it,

Realizing you are late for the pin tournament organized on different pins,

    Promising "I 'll be back"

Playing as bad you can possibly can during that tourney

Coming back to the machine ready to finally play it...

... Realizing the machine was now out of order and would not be repaired until the end of the show

    Happened to me!!

    Double Scoring!

    <drain>

    #42 6 years ago

I voted for not functioning properly, but missing a hurry up shot or mode/multivalve stry after kicking off 2x scoring or some other lucrative feature stinks.

Waiting for a hurricane to hit, and not knowing if your collection or gameroom will survive a downed tree, flood, 90mph winds etc.

While playing a game on location, tilting your last ball and realizing the bonus would have given you the high score.

Realizing that we are years if that away from making an unlicensed theme...

I'd like to see the results if I took out "game not functioning properly"
