Loved it growing up. The early episodes are comic gold.

Ummmm... Highlander is not on the list... And yes, while the tv show Highlander is nowhere near as good as the first movie(first movie is all we ever need to talk about or watch), its a very good show and has a really nice universe that it created... One thing though.. While the producers of the movie brought the action and excitement, they really went overboard on the silly... I think Gregory Widen's original idea was more grounded and had a better to me rule set. For instance... The only reason why immortals didn't fight on holy ground was it was tradition... Not that it would trigger a doomsday or Pompeii... Anyway... I love the TV show... It had at times hammy acting, silly scripts, villains of the week(Roddy Piper, the beastmaster, Bull from night court and many more), and some really bad 90s rock songs and tude... To be fair, it had some good rock songs in it too, specifically the main title song. And while the special effects are really dated for the time they were quite good, and I think the action still holds up.
And all said the writing while a bit inconsistent here and there, by and large holds up really well and it tells a great epic story about one mans life.
I've watched the show 2 times start to finish and I hope to do so a third time, and this does not include the original viewings and odd repeat viewings I had as a kid.
Just love the show. It has action, history, romance, just enough comedy(sometimes too much), and just a whole lot of fun... Again... Not worth watching Endgame or the source to finish the story...

I've been saying for years if Cop Rock came out now it might actually do well.

To me the best TV show is one that is timeless and you could watch over and over without getting old. Only two shows come to mind...

    1. Seinfeld
    2. Arrested Development

For me it’s a toss up between Deadwood, Firefly and American Gods. GOT and Battlestar Galactica are right behind those 3.

    #263 1 year ago

Jonny Quest was one of the first cartoon series, most others on at the time did not carry storylines forward.

Seinfeld actors speaking about being recognized in public. Pretty interesting stories...it really shows how much of a global reach the show had.

    #268 1 year ago

M*A*S*H followed by Seinfeld followed by All in the Family.

Keep in mind that when All in the Family aired far fewer than every home in the USA had a teevee.

    #269 1 year ago

I'm a huge TV buff. best drama goes to Breaking Bad. Best Sci Fi is a tie between DS9 and Battlestar Galactica remake. Best comedies are British. Red Dwarf and Black Adder easy.

    Are you *&^%$g kidding?
Not even in the top 700 - not even close.
    Just, no.
Agree: Thrones if you can delete season 5 and fix season 8. Great point made above about M*A*S*H too.
    For me...
NY dock worker, prejudice, ignorant, slow learner..... but still a learner..living, coping, and risking it all to own his own little business in the end (Read: Former American dream) - All in the Family truly changed television, not Buffy.

You obviously know nothing about this show then. Go ahead and google top tv shows and look at every list out there. Not only will Buffy be on every one of them it’s usually in the top 30 or less. Don’t let the name fool you. The show was very ground breaking at the time and is one of the greatest tv shows ever. Hell, they have collage courses that study the sociology, psychology, philosophy, and theology based just around this show. To say it didn’t change television is just down right foolish.

    Deadwood,followed by the Rockford files!!!

    Benny Hill. Mic drop...

    #273 1 year ago

Battlestar Galactica and Star Trek Deep Space Nine.
I've lost count how many times I've watched DS9, my favorite trek show for sure.

    #274 1 year ago

Seriously, we all have our favorites, but you have to kind of put it aside and be honest with yourself.

Benny Hill, while funny as hell, shouldn’t even be a consideration. DS9 is mediocre at best. I have some favorite shows, but I know damn well they can’t even be considered due to writing or production. Or really shitty acting. Be honest with yourselves.

I forget which organization put out a list of 100 best written shows a couple of years ago, but I thought it was the most objective accurate list I’ve ever seen. I agreed with 90% of the selections which is pretty amazing.

    In your opinion.

DS9 is phenomenal (in my opinion). Love the character development, the writing, it has the whole package.

It's GOT by a long shot, its not even close. But your list is weak its like your personal collection you left out some of the most bad ass TV shows.

I think a better poll would be the best TV shows that turned into a pinball machine like Batman 66, Charlies Angles, GOT, Munsters, Adams Family, Twilight Zone, etc.

Either way your poll left out some of the best, coolest, TV shows in history.

Rat Patrol! Holy hell. Loved that show and it
had a much younger "Victor" as one of the
costars who has been on the young and the restless
    for decades .

Had a professor in college that made us watch Rat Patrol episodes....his fav show. Classic!

The Powers of Matthew Star is the only correct answer.

Macahan was great, esp the first season.
Went with breaking bad since the formerly mentioned wasn't on the list.

    Diff’rent Strokes!

    #289 1 year ago
    Quoted from albummydavis:

    DS9 is mediocre at best.

I didn't get it either. Felt more like a drama than a sci-fi.

-The endless war between the Cardassians and the Bajorans grew tiresome.
-Quark, most of the time, was just annoying. Sure, he was a great actor and great character, but they should have downplayed him more, like Guinan in TNG.
-The unlimited story possibilities with the wormhole and Odo's shapeshifting capabilities never really came into play.
-The Defiant was supposed to be a spectacular warship, and yet, it seemed oddly unremarkable.

TOS was very creative for its time, but dated now. Kirk's constant fisticuffs got old too.
The best series for me were TNG, Voyager and Enterprise.

    #290 1 year ago

Well with all these great shows in the past, what is the best currently running show???

    Man in the High Castle?
    Homeland?
    Westworld?
    Stranger Things?
    Bosch?
    Mrs. Maisel?
    Britannia?

    #291 1 year ago

Not sure if this was mentioned,
But do any of you remember Soap?
Richard Mulligan, Billy Crystal, Katharine Helman
    And many more

    #292 1 year ago

Again, probably not the greatest but another series I've enjoyed that is both entertaining and educational is Dirty Jobs with Mike Rowe.

Haven't looked at all the pages...How about a little love for Baywatch? I mean they rounded into form when Pam Anderson showed up.
