HBO had one of the best hours of comedy when they aired Dream On and Larry Sanders back-to-back. More recent favorites of mine were Justified and Banshee.

    Quoted from LTG:

Alf, Little House on the Prairie, The Waltons, My Mother the Car, I Dream of Genie, McHale's Navy, Gilligan's Island, Hogan's Heroes, Bewitched.
So many great ones. It's hard to choose.
    LTG : )

Now I'm imagining ALF in a bikini, on deck a Navy PT boat, sipping a nice coconut drink, all the while wearing a monocle!

Funny, I just had a coworker mention "My Mother the Car" the other week.

'Get a Life' is my favorite because I was dating my now wife and made her watch it with me. I knew she was a keeper. Comedy gold.

    #106 4 years ago

Breaking Bad. It's the only show I've ever seen that was amazing from the start, got better each season, then stuck the landing 100%.

    Quoted from Mad_Dog_Coin_Op:

Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Joss Whedon’s creation that made tough girls cool. Television really changed after that door was opened.

    Are you *&^%$g kidding?
Not even in the top 700 - not even close.
    Just, no.

Agree: Thrones if you can delete season 5 and fix season 8. Great point made above about M*A*S*H too.

    For me...

I enjoyed my comedies the most..happy days, 3’s company, Seinfeld and The dukes of hazard..I’ve only watched a few shows on Netflix- boardwalk empire was pretty fn good..I still enjoy the ‘boarder line ‘ humour of family guy..but impossible to name a favourite...

    #110 4 years ago

My favorite comedy is Arrested Development.

There's so many great shows that wear out their welcome or limp on for a few seasons after losing their lead. Seems the average is about 2 seasons too many.

I've watched seasons 1-5 of The Office more times than I can count but I never need to see the Michael-less last two again.

I started watching season 5 of Arrested Development on Netflix and got bored after one episode. What a waste. Was once so amazing and hard to believe it was on network TV.

All In the Family & The Honeymooners....Nuff Said!

    #113 4 years ago

    1. GoT (seasons 1-4 greatest in TV history period... 5-8 still good enough to maintain the #1 ranking in my book)
    2. Breaking Bad (very close to GoT and really was close to perfect as each season was better than the previous)
    3. The Wire (the most realistic TV show you'll ever see)
    4. The Sopranos (it started it all... took TV to another level IMO)
    5. Band Of Brothers. (10 episodes just wasn't enough!)

    #114 4 years ago

    Outer Limits

    #115 4 years ago

This is the only correct answer. If you haven’t seen it, YOU’RE WELCOME.

Obviously you're not a fan. Rolling Stone just did a similar list and rated it at #38 of all time. Buffy is highly under rated and not seen by most markets. It was huge over in the UK and very well respected in the industry. I myself had a tough time getting over the goofy name but it really is very good. Plus it was filmed in my backyard. Sometimes it is good to live in LA.

Seinfeld gets my vote, but I must acknowledge the best TV adaptation of a comic book hero...

Breaking Bad, Stranger Things, Death Note (Japanese version with subtitles).

    Non-serial...Unsolved Mysteries/Tales From the Crypt.

Season 4 wasn’t that great originally. They (Mitch) re-edited it on Netflix and the re-edited version is now the one you can watch normally. Season 5 was QUITE good

    #148 4 years ago

Both Faulty Towers and Police Squad had very few episodes. I guess brevity is indeed the soul of wit. =)
