Quoted from ShinyBall:This is a age related poll by the op...so many missing..for the older folks
I hear ya. I love the old stuff too. These were just suggestions from lists I found online. But, you're not wrong which is why I put the "other" option in.

I have to put shows in two different categories: Drama and Comedy
Best drama - Breaking Bad followed very close by Game of Thrones.
Best comedy - Seinfeld followed by Married with Children.
Quoted from Bonk:The Leftovers takes the top spot for me.
Seriously? I would put that at the bottom spot. Ugh.
The Wire gets my top spot.
Comedies - I am back to putting Cheers over Seinfeld, but it has flip/flopped over time. I would say the end of Seinfeld was a well oiled machine and the best comedy for me....but Cheers was more solid overall.
The first 2 seasons of Seinfeld are completely unwatchable for me now...and I'll pass on 3.
Dramas - TZ is good for a long time but I'd give a slight edge to St. Elsewhere over Hill Street Blues. Obviously I'd rather watch Brisco County over them but only 1 season can't be judged, and I'm not old enough to any real westerns.
There are too many variables. Television has been around since the early 1930s. Each generation could easily be swayed by their era.
Where is I Love Lucy? M.A.S.H? The howdy doody show? The brady bunch?
Also, these tend to have a gender bias. What about the golden girls? Twin peaks? Desperate housewives?
You also have to consider the style. It is hard to compare Seinfeld to Game of Thrones...they are completely different.
I think arrested Development is the most watchable, and funniest show of all time. It created its own universe right out of the gate and never violates its own rules (crucial to a good story), except when they do it right in your face as a joke. You need to watch st least 4 episodes to “get it”.
The West Wing is my favorite show of all time. It has the best writing I think I’ve ever heard, still, as it’s written by a writer in love with the written word.
The cast was perfect, and despite being political by definition, it doesn’t really cram it down your throat - it’s much more the people and the “how” of politics than any “agenda.” To say that entirely Misses the point.

So many great ones. It's hard to choose.
LTG : )
For me its 1.) Breaking bad 2.) Seinfeld 3.) Sopranos . The character development in breaking bad was hands down some of the best in television history not to mention blurring the lines between antagonist and protagonist. The ending was also bad ass and didn't leave me feeling angry like the ending of Game of Thrones.
Looking at IGN for ratings is interesting. I actually have never watched Mad Men or The Wire. I now have to check out those two shows.

Watching Married with Children with the wife now for the first time since I was a little kid. $26 for the entire series on DVD on amazon. totally worth it!
Quoted from AntennaMan:Police Squad. Here's the complete series.
That show made me laugh so hard I would get a stomach ache.
Seinfeld - entire series was great but the ending was absolutely perfect.
Everyone pointing out x-files..... I think Fringe had a better ending.
Gravity Falls doesn’t get attention from adults - but this is one of the best shows out there and ended fantastically as well.
As a kid-

Cant wait for the HBO movie next Friday!
Tough one. Went back and forth.....Breaking Bad...Seinfeld...Breaking Bad...Seinfeld...
Ended up voting for Breaking Bad but it was a toss up.
Quoted from xsvtoys:Final season starting soon
Is it just me or does he (Archer) sound EXACTLY like the Arby's "chef"... "for sandwiches" ?

I suggest a viewing of the special episode entitled "Archer waking up as H. Jon Benjamin" also known as "Archer L'Espion Mal Fait". Available on the intertubes everywhere.
