With Game of Thrones coming to an end, I need a new show to watch. I pulled these from a couple "greatest TV shows of all time" lists, but would love your opinions as well. What is the greatest show of all time??

My Dad would have said Gunsmoke. "Of all time" is relative to Generations.
Breaking Bad is my choice.
As someone who in my 20's actually was an apprentice to a mastermind chemical engineer who created a proprietary process that resulted in a product that had insane value and many trying to take us down or steal our process... Arrested Development is still the greatest show ever created.
Quoted from Coolpinballdino:1 Breaking Bad, 2 Sopranos, 3 X-files, and 4 Seinfeld.
probably not the greatest of all time, that is pretty lofty and subjective
but some shows not on your list that I really think are/were pretty awesome are
Always Sunny in Philadelphia
Fire Fly
Cowboy Bebop
Spartacus
Curb your Enthusiasm
on your list id have to go Seinfeld
I thought GOT would have become my all time favorite, but with the muddled mess that season 8 turned out to be, Breaking Bad is still my top choice on your list.
Honestly, I think there is a difference between a SERIES and a SHOW but the general public just lumps them together into the same conversation.
Man, really surprised not one mention of MASH. I rank it as the best comedic TV drama of all time. It changed TV.
Breaking Bad is still the best complete TV "series" of my generation.
Best TV show of all time? Possibly so, but hard to compare it to shows like MASH and Game of Thrones(series). More relevant to my generation would be Seinfeld(show), Simpsons(show) and Sopranos(series). I don't really consider Breaking Bad a "TV show" because it was on an adult cable station.
Quoted from Coolpinballdino:You should add Sopranos to your poll.
Added. Whoops, it was supposed to be there.
As a series to watch in order I would say Breaking Bad, Sopranos or The Shield. Breaking Bad is the best TV series I have ever seen.
Some of the other are sitcoms which are great for a once in a while viewing but watching them in order would get boring IMHO. Of that group I like Cheers, Friends, Seinfeld.
Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Joss Whedon’s creation that made tough girls cool. Television really changed after that door was opened.
Quoted from DBLM:In the 90's, it was Kianna's Flex Appeal. Afterwards, Breaking Bad.[quoted image]
I used to sack out on the couch and eat chips and dip while watching that.
My true personal pick for greatest show ever made is lost in space. Followed by batman.
Then we get eclectic. Night stalker.
Voted for Breaking Bad.
Everything that happened was a reaction to something the characters did and thus felt earned not random. The show was also just about the right length and didn't overstay its welcome (Season 4 was maybe a bit long)
What kills a lot of shows is they do as many seasons as the network will give them rather than ending the story in the logical place.
Quoted from gliebig:I used to sack out on the couch and eat chips and dip while watching that.
It was must-watch tv in college
Well there's one guy on here that apparently thinks Gilligan's Island is the greatest show and pin haha.
The syndication numbers would tell you it's Gilligan's Island. But the most gratifying series Ive ever watched was by far Breaking Bad. I hear a movie is in the works that continues Jessies story.
When I saw this thread I instantly thought “The Wire”
There are a lot of good choices in the poll. It’s tough to put dramas and comedies in the same poll. I love Seinfeld, The office, Parks and Recreation, and Curb your Enthusiasm. It’s just not the same thing if you’re trying to find a show like GOT.
Freaks and Geeks should be on there too. I’ts only 1 season but it’s fantastic
I voted for Breaking Bad on this list, but I go with a tie between The Honeymooners and All in the family. Both of those shows are between 45-65 years old, but you will still die laughing when you watch them. And the star actors, Jackie Gleason and Caroll O’Connor were just awesome.
Based on scope alone, I have to put Game of Thrones #1. My top 5 are as follows:
1. Game of Thrones
2. The Wire - incredible series with a turn for the worse in the final season.
3. Mad Men
4. The Sopranos
5. Seinfeld
I almost voted for Seinfeld, but I had to choose Other since The X-Files probably just edges it out. You can only binge-watch so much Seinfeld.
Breaking Bad is up there with those two.
