Now, if we're strictly talking about how they LOOK, then there's nothing that really tops Magic Girl.
It's still technically a pinball machine even if it doesn't fully work. You can flip a ball around a bit.

Creature from the Black Lagoon here, especially when running and the backboard is doing the light ripple thing.
Fathom is another beauty. Those deadly mermaids!
I don't think anyone else has said this, but what about Black Knight 2000? The black and orange and yellow and all the lightning bolts and the mirrored backglass with the Black Knight ramped across it make it a very striking machine.
Quoted from Jenniebear:...My favorite looking game is Dr Dude....
My life was dull....
Quoted from Jenniebear:My favorite looking game is Dr Dude. I love the art work on that game. It is polished and Screams 80's - 90's Cheese.
I'll give Dr Dude credit, it does what it set out to do. When I was a kid (12 - 13 IIRC) and I first saw it I was fascinated, and it's late 80's /early 90's "coolness" is off the scale.
Quoted from Taxman:I love Paragon. I love to play the game first and I love 99% of how it looks. But something always bugged me about the way his head looks wrong on his shoulders.
What's wrong is that it looks like he has no neck at all. His arms look too short. His head looks too big for his body. The proportions are all wrong. Still think this is one of the best art packages on a machine, except the cabinet.
Quoted from pcprogrammer:What's wrong is that it looks like he has no neck at all. His arms look too short. His head looks too big for his body. The proportions are all wrong. Still think this is one of the best art packages on a machine, except the cabinet.
Agree. His arms look too short. Something looks off. Is he supposed to be a dwarf? And the girl on the backglass looks great but far too relaxed for the scene.
Medieval Madness for me. The right mix of originality, humor, varied color palette, no vintage or cartoonish style women in stupid poses (sorry, I love women, but that stuff is lame), theme, etc.
Centaur is unique, I give it that. I like TOTAN but it hasn't aged well IMO. Some of the older classics are neat but if I look to hard I wonder WTF am I looking at? Like Paragon...really? Why does the dwarf viking guy have gargoyle wings?
Quoted from xTheBlackKnightx:A title in which gameplay is as good as its visuals.
And the wings on the beast are way too small for its body. No way it could fly. Is it supposed to be half chicken? Are chickens supposed to be scary? May be?
Quoted from minnesota13:There is no such thing as a "best looking" pinball machine.
I mean what you think is a really good looking machine. Everyone is going to have different opinions.
No mention of Diner yet? When I think of great looking pinball machines, Diner is always one of the first to come to mind. Like Fire which was mentioned earlier, it's just super classy (And as it turns out, this game has the same artist!). It's laid out perfectly to accommodate the playfield design. It's cluttered, but in just the right way to make it feel just like an actual diner. The cabinet art is sleek and simple. Then there's the translite. Again, simple, but still super nice to look at, and it even has the see through windows with the customers that move around when the game moves, with the clock implemented super nicely on top. In my opinion it's one of the nicest, most charming art packages put on a pinball machine.

Quoted from fosaisu:Can't believe no one has mentioned Sorcerer yet!
Quoted from nman:Paragon, Sorcerer, and TOTAN. Also, more EMs than i could list.
Quoted from pinfixer:I personally think Dave Christensen's masterpiece is Voltan. To tie it into other recent threads it's rare but my opinion is it's the worst playing Bally of the early Solid State era.
That's the reason why it never went into serial-production because Test-Samples didn't earn much money.
But just for good looks, it's one of the best ever.
I'm not able to name a specific game, but the best-looking game ever should ba Christensen-Design.
I am the lucky owner of this red and black JD.

Quoted from gunstarhero:It might just be me, but I think TOTAN has a great looking PF and a fugly translite.
I love TOTAN, but my problem with the artwork is that it's so inconsistent. The play field and cabinet body are gorgeous, with Mucha-inspired Art Nuveau figures and patterns, but the cabinet head is done in a heavier style and the back glass is entirely different from both. I designed and installed a new translight to correct the problem.
Surprised that nobody has mentioned Theatre of Magic yet. Beautiful cabinet art on that one. Really like the art on Strikes and Spares as well as Kiss (both old and new) too.
I also like many that have already been mentioned:
Centaur
Paragon
Mata Hari
Fire
Quoted from mrossman5:What game do you think has the best cabinet?
Houdini lookiing pretty sweet!
