Quoted from SwimLaw:

Yeah, I️ was going to say Aerosmith too.
My votes are WOZ, TOTAN, the Hobbit, and Aerosmith. Tron too if it has the right lighting.

There are so many machines with beautiful artwork that it’s honestly impossible to pick just one I think. I mean even some of the old EM’s have artwork that is just mesmerizing.

#53 6 years ago

I'd say TOTAN or TH, but I own both so I may be biased. When you add not just looks but sound, light and presentation package...TH is the best appearance game of all time. Too bad it is JJP's worst game so far.

Jorro wins, that’s definitely the BEST looking pinball machine I’ve ever seen!

What pinball machine?

hobbit!

Another vote for Fathom, I don;t even play it - I just stare at it.

Quoted from mrossman5:

What do you guys think about the newer Stern games? Also can't forget about TNA.

Ghostbusters has a great art package but most modern stern machines are just boring, cut and paste, photoshopped clip art and the super bright LEDs make them even harder to look at.

#59 6 years ago

TOTAN by far. Espeacially since i finshed my topper yesterday.

BBB, if the translite would be better.

Swords of Fury! LION MAN!

#62 6 years ago

Lots of good ones.. fathom, Centaur, paragon.
I always liked the look of bk2k. The backglass, and lighting.

#63 6 years ago

Fathom and Paragon hands down have the best art packages.

#64 6 years ago

The next one that’s being carried into my house!

#65 6 years ago

Paragon, Sorcerer, and TOTAN. Also, more EMs than i could list.

My restored chromed out Whitewater with that topper is an beautiful looking pin.

yes, chrome on the fresh blue whitewater decals is perfect. I have a chestnut restore and it is a site to see.

ghostbusters
rob zombie
fathom

#67 6 years ago

Not TOTAN, the characters look like rough drafts in some art student's portfolio. Like all the blues however...

I'd go with BK2K for art alone. Not crazy about the gameplay but the art and music are just perfect.

If we can all ignore the initial price anger, BM66 is one of the best looking modern pins, Chris Franchi knocked the art way way out of the park!

I agree with some of the no-brainers (Fathom, Centaur, Farfalla..etc.) but some of the suggestions are too 'loud' IMO to be considered best looking.

I'll probably get crucified for this, but to me there's nothing like it... I could look at a Fire all day. Just super classy, simplistic yet beautiful cab, really unique BG, and an awesome 'world under glass' PF with the awesome flame effect.

Quoted from Cappi:

Oh you mean the one where they went to find God? Or was it the whale one?

Yeah V is a Shatner shit for sure, But "The Whale One" is probably the 2nd most popular one. Luckily they came back hard with VI.

#72 6 years ago

TOTAN is my favorite game and I love the Mucha-inspired artwork, but I think Spectrum has the greatest art package of any pinball machine. It's Margaret Hudson's masterpiece.

Ouch, the Search for God one was so bad. Is that the one where Scotty knocked himself out on a beam? I was sure they were just doing the movie for a quick check. It was more like 3 Stooges in Space. Everyone was trying to make a serious movie (with a bad script) and the major actors showed up on the set stoned.

If you ignore gameplay, most of the woodrail games are really quite stunning looking.

Gottlieb may have churned out some turds throughout the (recent) years, but one thing is undeniable: They had some of the best damn artists during their heyday. In particular, Gordon Morison's art is lush, detailed, and masterfully crafted. It's just a shame their stenciled cabinets early on were simple geometric shapes and such.

I think Gottlieb's later EMs--with the detailed stenciled cabinets--is an era where their art packages really started to shine.

The Artwork was a few years late but really captured the psychedelic thing of the late 60's.
I like the color combination and the "Nuclear Chicks"

Fathom and Centaur
In my opinion, nothing compares to the fantastic look of those two great pins from the early 80's
Attention to details, quality of the work, quality of the printing, quality of the art.
