I was curious what are the better $3K Stern pins? I am talking about pins if they are in very good condition. I don't mean heavily routed worn out examples of SM or TSPP.

Best Stern pins that can realistically be had for $3K that would be in superb condition.

I just wanted to hear what people think are the better lower tier Stern pins.

Also if you had to say which pins could fall into this price range? I almost saw a Mustang for $3K (was $3300) so I don't think Mustang is a $3K pin. I would say RBION, WPT to name two are typically around that price.

Just like everything else out there right now, I'm seeing these climb up in price but if you can find one, a nice example of a RBION for $3K is an awesome bang for the buck right now IMO.

Ripley - depth and difficulty, good theme, great modes
WPT - difficult and deep, theme doesn't appeal to many
Sopranos - not deep or difficult, but really a lot of fun.

I've owned rbion and I currently own sopranos. I think those are the two best choices.

Avengers pro and avatar pro also come to mind in the low 3k range. Contrary to many others, I liked avengers a lot, owned it for a good three years.

I would jump on a minty HUO Sopranos at 3K.

That machine is a lot of fun.

#8 7 years ago

T3 - Ripleys - NBA - TRS

Quicksilver for sure

Sopranos, had it for a year and played it a lot. Might be more like 3.4k for a nice one. Had Ripley's for a month and couldn't wait for it to go. 24 is fun but they are hard to find and probably mid- 3's.

#11 7 years ago

WOF is awesome and that's a realistic price. Not a T3 or WPT fan..the others mentioned here I would think are hard to come by at that price.

#12 7 years ago

A Ripley's sold recently in my area for $2500 - That was such an awesome deal I almost bought it even though I shouldn't. I would say Ripley's can he had for $3400 on average - but not unrealistic to find some deals out there.

#13 7 years ago

If I had the space, I'd love to have my Ripley's back.

#14 7 years ago

WPT or Ripley's IMHO. If you can find a HUO example of either for 3k you can't go wrong.

#15 7 years ago

You could easily get a High Roller Casino. Underrated game but rather fun. Not so sure about finding one in HUO condition though.

#16 7 years ago

I agree with all the Ripleys posts!

It seems like a year ago Ripley's were under 3K but they have climbed up.

Ripley's, great pin!

#19 7 years ago

I snagged a nice Ripley's for $2600 about a month ago. Needed some board work which I took care of and had a wear spot on the PF but I made a custom decal for it and then covered with mylar. Game is fun and is an immediate draw when people come over. I got a WPT for a friend for $2600 that needed a full tear down and shop job and a few misc parts totaling less than $100. Cleaned up beautifully and then sold it to a Poker buddy of mine for $3100

WOF great game very underrated.

#22 7 years ago

No one has said Nascar; is that one so bad that it's not on anyone's list, despite easily being in this price range?

#23 7 years ago

Pick up this RollerCoaster Tycoon if you are near by, seems to be priced right: https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/for-sale-rollercoaster-tycoon-stern-2002-2007

#24 7 years ago

NASCAR is fun.......finally played one a couple months ago. It would get old quick for me in a small collection. RBION never seems to get old and is one I always enjoy playing. Depends on your own taste but there are some good games to be had in the $2K-$4K range

#25 7 years ago

I've owned a NASCAR for just under two years. It was my first Stern and I bought it partially due to the price. I think it's a really fun game that gets a bad reputation but some Pinsiders who like to stereotype the theme. The code is deep, the modes have a lot of variety, and it has great flow. My guests love the machine and it always gets a lot of play when I have friends over. If you get a chance to play one in decent condition, I suggest playing a few games and judging it for yourself. I'm glad I did since it's a solid game for under 3k.

#26 7 years ago

Can you really get a HUO Ripley's for $3k or under? If so consider me a buyer! Most in this condition seem to be 3.5-4k. My vote would be WOF followed by WPT.

#27 7 years ago

Same answers as above RBION, WPT and Sopranos. Sopranos and RBION you will have to hunt more for just like a lot of other pins, but they are around.

The $3000ish price point on Sterns is tough because if you can afford $3000ish on a pin you can probably afford a NIB Stern Pro. You add in the time and effort in the hunt and driving for miles to get a pin at that price for a 10 year old pin why not spend $1500ish more and get a MET, ST, GB, TWD, GOT and Kiss delivered?

I don't know of to many people who would pick a RBION over all those new titles, but to each his own.

Edit - or just buy a HUO GOT, TWD, MET, ST, KISS or IM for $4300ish?

Those are not west coast prices. :/

What are HUO NASCARs going for these days?

I've seen them in the high $2k range. Routed ones in the $1600-$1800 range. (West coast. Used pin pricing is generally higher here in my experience)

#31 7 years ago

I bought CSI for $3k.. Yea the code is a little weak, but it's a fun game

I like it, but I prefer the "Grand Prix" incarnation. I picked up a mint / like-new Grand Prix for $3400.

#33 7 years ago

I would only buy a stern HUO if it had the original balls still in it.

Just buy nib then. You Westcoasters can afford it.

Tough to find game. Good job!

#37 7 years ago

WPT would be my choice.

Grand Prix is fun for how UNBELIEVABLY cheesy and camp the British-accented voices are. "ORL THAT 'ARD WERK FER NAFFIN'!"

#38 7 years ago

Wpt

#40 7 years ago

Rbion would be it. I have seen people ask 3500-4k, but they sit and sit. Low 3's is probably fair for huo. Still see them mid to high 2's for routed. Miss it and want it back, but would have to let go of WW or BF to get it.

#41 7 years ago

Love my NASCAR. great flow, fun pin. $2500 with some cash left over for a EM

#42 7 years ago

I picked up a Nascar and am really enjoying it. Like others have said great flow and very unique ball launch. Not a Nascar fan but who cares its about fast cars which is cool. Really a lot going on and should be able to find for under 2.5k

#43 7 years ago

Another vote for Grand Prix , heaps of modes, getting to position 1 for victory laps, plus a lot more. A great lawlor game that gets overlooked . Highly recommend great for all levels of pinball.

#44 7 years ago

Umm news flash guys. RBION HUO superb condition is not a 3K game. If you know of one, SOLD. Please send me the info.

#45 7 years ago

Another vote for RBION.

Nascar is more along the lines of a $2K HUO pin. I do like it though. For $3K I vote RBION. T3 is weird. It should be awesome for all the shi* it has going on. It just isn't IMO.

3k game is vague, but low 3200-3500 huo rbion yes. The 3700-4k rbions sit for ages. End of day rbion is a great game with awesome rules, but its not top 10 material. Theme is polarizing (lotta folks don't like the shrunken head callouts) and it doesn't set the home owner buyers on fire like POTC, LOTR, ACDC etc.

Please send me info on $3k Huo RBION. Not sure if they still exist but people keep bringing them up in this thread. WOF and WPT seem like the other obvious choices.
