I'm going with Spiderman despite the long ass balls times.

That game when its setup right shoots fantastic and you can rip some crazy combos.

I love STTNG also but thats a totally different feel being a widebody and all.

Quoted from Krupps4:

I get that it’s fun to play but I don’t think you explained why it is Richie’s masterpiece. Is it the layout, the mechs? How is it so much better than his other pins?

That's just it; I can't really put my finger on it. But there are a lot of people on Pinside that judge a game simply based on how much crap they stuffed into the game, and that doesn't necessarily equate to an addictive game. For me, a masterpiece is a game you keep coming back to over and over...even if you have other amazing games in your collection. I played STh almost exclusively in 2020 when it "wasn't safe" to go out. When LZ came around, I started playing that exclusively in 2021.

I have ACDC, JP, GOT, IJ, SW, etc. - but they don't get nearly as much play from me or others.

BUT...everybody's taste is different. There are many who think TZ is a masterpiece, and although I love the theme, I really hate the game. (Maybe because I'm more of a flow guy?)

What makes an incredible game is always a little bit indefinable. LZ seems barren and artistically challenged but what is there is amazing, topped by the Electric Magic device. It is just so playable and fun, with that trademark Ritchie flow

He was at the top of his game when he designed LZ in my view

Well I am biased to this pinball designer. Need to add a 3rd from him.....

Quoted from nocreditdot:

I agree with this. I have been in the hobby a long time. I have a pretty good mix of modern sterns and Williams dmd classics. I have also owned or still own a bunch of Steve's games. LZ has really won me over. People that come over gravitate to it over godzilla and JP2. I'm not saying it's better than those but it is comparable in the fun factor. It just has a replayability to it. The long flowing shots feel good. Combining songs with tours trying to reach world tour and mothership is both addictive and straight up fun. I really enjoy the electric magic frenzy. The sounds and light show just make me smile. The game is also easy to understand compared to many modern sterns. I'm glad a found a NIB premium last month. I believe this game will be one of those that's gets respect and will be desired down the road. The tide is starting to turn as I see others are saying the same thing.
Mike

What an amazing assessment of this very underrated game. Simplistic layout, code & artwork that makes me feel like I am in the early 1970’s when playing yet with modern technology. Could this be the next big “missed out” on pin to replace Ghostbusters???

There have threads like this in the past for good reason. I see lots of arguments pro and con for who is the best etc. That’s not important to me. He has been a prolific designer with some great games. Love me some Steve Ritchie.

My personal journey of SR games purchased has been a nice tour of his work. Currently I have Star Trek LE and I imagine it will stay until I leave the hobby.

Spider-Man
STTNG
ACDC Prem
Star Trek LE
GoT Pro (borrowed)
High Speed
Star Wars LE

Richie has designed a lot of great pins but my vote is for STTHG. Bonus points for it being a great wide body.

Are there any rumors about Steve Ritchie new pinball design for jersey Jack?

Pink Floyd. Dark side of the moon.
Wow, that would be cool. Just starting the rumor, I have no idea.

I would love to see Pixar "Incredibles" while there is only 2 movies, ie before there is a 4th.

It's a great album. It's horrible music for pinball. It would put you to sleep by ball 2.

That's optimistic, I doubt people would get all the way through ball 1

Nothing yet, but I would love it to be Mortal Kombat.

I'm on board with that! True, he was the voice announcer and Shao Kaun in mortal Kombat 2 and 3. Also battle modes and fatalities that would be interesting.
Fast and furious would be cool too since that series had many movies and he made many fast flowing pins in the past.
Top gun is another thought since he made f-14 pin.
But Harry Potter is #1 on his wish list when someone asked Steve Ritchie at a convention in a YouTube video.

Ritchie is KingPin still (Elwin is PrincePin then?). Such a great list, so many classics. The thing about his machines though is the design is usually stellar, but they tend to rise or fall on art/theme. Many of his best are loud and obnoxious and really belong in arcades rather than homes. I fell in love with The Getaway and it was my second purchase, but after three months I traded it in towards The Big G (godzilla). Despite loving the play, it just didn't go with my vibe. I choose No Fear in the poll here as I think it probably has the worst theme but the best playfield. (I've been thinking of trying my hand at modding the virtual pinball version into something more relaxing). It's really a fun/fast/brilliant playfield with the second level loop/flipper; love to play it, would never own it. Of his more recent pins I love stern star wars. It is hard and fast and not a beginners friendly game, but when you get the flow going it's tremendously fun. And I love star wars. If I ever trade my GZ in, it will probably be towards a star wars premium. Also I love the GoT theme (and music), but haven't played the game enough to have an opinion. Also hate the art on that one. But STTNG be top of this poll is fine with me, an all time classic in design (but I wouldn't want to maintain one!) All hail the king! hope he has another classic or two in him at JJP!

I've never really thought of myself as a big Steve Ritchie "fan" but considering I own 3 of his games...I guess I am.
He does have some great games.

I’ve owned a good number of his pins. T2 was my 1st pin ever.

I’m debating whether to get GoT. (Get Got)

T2
STTNG
AcDc
SM twice
ST three times
SW my current favorite although I wish could play better.
