I recently put on new lift bar (a standard one, as is sold by Gatecrasher et al) on my Bally On Beam, and it didn't fit in the groove at first, so I did some scraping and tried again, and it fell in OK. However, now I can't seem to lift it up! I presume that I could lift it up if I could somehow get leverage under the lift bar, but short of putting in a molded piece that fits it exactly, I can't think of how to do it without either damaging the finish or bending the bar - the latter of which especially would not be wise as that would put mechanical stress on the glass.
I'm thinking that some sort of plastic clamp (with a rubber middle) at the 2 sides could do the trick, but I figure that this is a problem that others have had, and that there is a solution.
EDIT: OK, I took a pair of wooden paint brushes that I was able to get the non-bristle ends, and got the backglass to lift up. I'm going to enlarge the channel a little bit and then put some teflon there.
