DH w/ $ for the BG I got from John? Hmmmmm, it's sweeter now with I.C. And plastics. Should I? On CL it noted there my be a switch issue. John did me good , but yes I shopped it. I'm a rookie and know you guys would have grabbed it, what's your thinking?

We're thinking that we have no idea what you are talking about.
What?

Bay City SPAM ads on CL.

I would gladly chip in to a fund to stop these idiots from posting all over the state. Stop posting ads in areas that are a three hour drive away!

#208 7 years ago

Saturday I picked up the Dirty Harry that's listed on Lansing CL.
Seller cannot take the ad down until his power and internet get back on line.
He is/was still out from the storm Friday evening.

Seller also has a couple of EMs that he may list soon.
Be aware that the place is scary as hell, but the seller is a very nice guy.

#222 7 years ago
Quoted from Glhuffman:

I have a Dirty Harry up for sale if you know of anyone that is still looking. I have it listed in the market. Anyone know what shape the one near Lansing was in? Wanting a price check.

Have you seen this CL ad?
southbend.craigslist.org link

Might be worth a try.

#463 6 years ago
Quoted from Kawasakiltd:

I had the option to buy the Kings of Steel right out of the leaking garage it came out of. Stay away not worth it. Then it showed up on cragslist 3 days later. Has rust and water damage and yes a big ole mouse nest under the glass. Told the guy if he wanted to get ride of it I would take it but did not make an offer. Water and mice not a good combo on a pin.

I like his CL ad for the jukebox where he casually mentions that the records are included, but are covered in mold!

So, did someone get a Stern Lightning off Detroit CL today?
Ad was removed before I had a chance to even read it.

#568 6 years ago
Quoted from hollywood:

Sorry I insulted you man. It is a pretty difficult time with this divorce and I have never really sold many of my games - it actually breaks my heart to even list them after all the work I put into them.
If it is too high, I apologize. I know it was on route....but the issues you speak of are easy fixes that I am just too stupid to do - and with the divorce, getting a cabinet sub is just not practical at the moment. Not to mention almost everything (plastics, figures, ramp, ring, funnel, etc) is brand new.
I know that 90% of mods do not add value, however, I believe 2 on this game do - palantir, and PoTD. Disagree with me on that and that's ok.
I apologize if anyone thought that was high. I didn't even consider exchange. I have been offered 5500$ Canadian which when I checked was 4600$ US.
Sorry if I offended.
Just stress.

You don't have to apologize. If your price is too high, no one will buy.
His post might have been a little rude to you, but he could also have been a lot more rude.
Looks like "No harm, no foul" to me.

Are there ANY DMD machines around the Detroit area that are $1,200 or less?

Just my (unsolicited ) 2 cents, but don't get hung up on DMD for your budget. Look for a good, clean solid state game that you actually find as fun to play. You spend a surprisingly small amount of time looking at the display (whatever it is) while playing anyway. And be patient and ready to buy when something shows up.
Good luck!

Only dude I have ever seen carry a pin up a flight of stairs with legs on!

Are you guys talking about Paul? I know Paul!
Did I ever tell you about the time I went horseback riding with Paul, but there weren’t any horses around? Well, Paul throws a saddle on my back and rides me around Wyoming for three days. Well, wouldn’t you know it, my stamina increases with each day and I develop tremendous leg muscles. So anyway, Paul decides to enter me in the Breeders’ Cup, right, under the name Turkish Delight. And I’m running in second place, and I’m running and I break my ankle! They’re about to shoot me. Then someone from the crowd yells out, God bless him, ‘Don’t shoot him, he’s a human.'

Quoted from RonPac:

I am new to pinside & basically so out of playing pinball that you could consider me a beginner. You can look at "my story" post once it is reviewed and released, but I played "back in the 'EM' day when I was a kid. I am now looking for a working EM for the man-cave. At least, that is what I think I want.
I've been "lurking" and learning. I read the "what would you but for $1,500" thread"
Here is what I think I will do for now, buy a older, working EM, like a classic Gottlieb Wedgehead (even though I didn't particularly like the smaller flippers, drains and short play (when I was a paying customer). Or not a Wedge/small flipper (Sell me something else or sell me on a different approach.)
My idea is that this approach not only allows me to limit my investment in the hobby, for now, as I grow into it. I plan on going to an arcade or venue that has a SS, DMD machine and work on my skills, which are poor, for now. (face it, the arcades and bar pins will drain my $$ too.) Once "get bored" with the machine I buy, I will then sell it (If I can sell it, lower investment could lower my potential loss too) I will then upgrade to the next "level"/mode/era of pinball machine, and repeat until my skills and interest build more which will justify a killer contemporary contraption.
Besides, I currently only have room for one machine.
So, does anyone have a older EM that fits the bill in their collection that they could sell off to the new guy?? What "non-scammer" Michigan machine someone might part with to a potential buyer?
For example, I saw a post a little ways back where pinsider amkoefer had some pins they were thinking of selling (an Atlantis) but, it isn't listed in the Marketplace. There is a local "Groovy" Gottlieb pin I am going to look at soon.
Just throwing it out there. Maybe I will change my mind and just go for a different pin. There is a Aztec on Craigslist over in Kimball, MI by John at Pops Coin Op, has anyone dealt with that seller before?
Thanks for your time and attention

Welcome! Stay patient and make sure you get a game you want.
Trying out lots of games on location or at shows is a great way to figure out what you like.

#5476 2 years ago
Quoted from amkoepfer:

Just picked up 2 time machines. Container fresh. One is back to 110v, the other is still 220. Both are incredibly dirty but complete. 1 cab is very bad, other is ok. All boards are there, 1 mpu had the batteries explode it looks like. I would sell as a pair if anyone is interested. Didnt want them, just wanted to get them to someone that would appreciate them. Could make 1 good players game and a rough but functional game. Pm if interested.

DE Time Machine or Zac Time Machine?
Both great, but very dirrerent.

Quoted from amkoepfer:

listed a bm66 pre modded out and a afmr se, half mile into ohio. Selling because i am moving back to the mitten

Don't we get to vote on whether or not you are ALLOWED back?

Oh all right, I vote "yes".

Quoted from gorditas:

even if ownership is transferred

Not quite correct. A change in ownership resets the taxable value to the current assessed value, unless it is a family transfer.
But yes, once you buy a place, your taxes can't increase more than the rate of inflation. Exceptions being new special assesments, voted millages, or improvements to the property.
Yes, check the tax rate when buying. Huge differences by community. My City is about double the adjoining Townships, but there are other factors to consider.

Quoted from gorditas:

Homestead can be transferred, but it has to be handled properly. We accomplished that when we bought our previous home, and the new owners got it transferred. You can only have one homestead at a time.

Yes, the homestead exemption will transfer, but that is a separate issue from assesed vs taxable value. Two separate factors that determine your overall property tax cost.
Cheating on homestead exemption is a big deal around here. Lots of second homes that folks will try to claim as primary to get the lower tax rate.

Quoted from gorditas:

I don't appreciate the insinuation that I am encouraging people to cheat on their taxes.

Not insinuating that at all. Just saying it's discussed in this area quite a bit. I appologize if I seemed to say that. Not my intent.
The taxable value resets any time a sale happens outside of a family transfer. There is no filing to prevent that.
And yes, you need to file a homestead exemption to get the lower primary residence tax rate.
Perhaps in some areas the assesed value is not regularly reviewed unless a sale happens. Around here most are every few years, with or without a sale.

Anywho, my taxes are close to what a NIB Stern Premium would be. And my value is at homestead, with 10 years of minimal capped increase. When I first bought the place the City screwed up and sent my first tax bill for the non-homestead rate. Got that corrected, but quite a shock when I saw the bill. Also went to the Board of Appeals to contest the valuation, as it was out of line with what I paid. Interesting process and did get a small reduction.

Anybody selling a nice Iron Man?
(I wonder what Tony Stark's property taxes are? Place is pretty fancy.)

I have seen this joust and its very nice. And i can vouch for the afmr since it was mine. Looks brand new

When are you scheduled to move?
Then you can start accumulating games again instead of selling.

Last week I bought my first pinball machine -- a non-working, 1947, Mystery by Exhibit.
I got everything back up and running and it's a very fun machine!
Does anyone have any pre-1960 pinball machines to sell?

Not mine and don't know anything about it, but here's one on Grand Rapids CL:

If you haven't seen it, Clay is looking to ID a nasty trespasser on the VFW property.
