Love: Rocky and Bullwinkle, my generation grew up watching this cartoon when home from school for lunch, so the audio makes me laugh out loud and I like the play of the game. I know, not a deep rules set, but just like the game.
Hate: Medieval Madness. Boring, repetitive, boring and did I say, boring. I know this is sacrilege to say so, but I have repeatedly tried to give this game the love everyone says it deserves, playing it every chance i get, but ..... nope.

Quoted from TopMoose:

But if you ask pinheads to name pinball's best designers, I think you'll just hear about Lawlor, Ritchie, Borg, Gomez, Trudeau...

First one I'd mention is Steve Kordek. I like all of the above as well and had quite a few, but Oursler's games have really grown on me. Those seem to have the most staying power lately.

My favorite pinball designer of all time is Ed Krynski.

Sorry, OP - didn't mean to derail the thread.

RCT. I have owned it for a year and a half and still love the shots, ramps and start of Multiball never gets old for me. It is just fun for me. A good value Lawlor pin. Many of my friends roll their eyes at it and my even my casual playing wife says it is her least favorite game???

A game folks like, but not me, is GB. The playfield on GB is a mess like Avengers, but not near as fun. TAV is better. The cheap drains and air balls are a downer - tweak them all you want. Balls staying in pop bumpers for 10+ seconds is mind numbing too me. Shots are tight and the flipper gap is wide- ok tough doesn't always equal fun for me. AC/DC, IM and Met pull is off tough so much better. The game has piano music. The stops on the stop and go gameplay are fall asleep boring to me. Like if you get an extra ball it takes way to long to announce it on the DMD. I do not like the green armor on the LE. Video mode is not fun. I feel bad about the playfield problems folks have, but I see it as one of the many warnings to all to not just preorder LE's from Stern anymore. Hate it and played it over 100 times. Ray Parker Jr can't save this dream theme pin that fell short.

STTNG - simply too difficult for the curiosity seekers. They all gravitate to Star Wars DE. Huge hit that I also enjoy.

Chicago Coin - Hula Hula - I love it. Guests appreciate the history but usually walk away before ball 5 and head back to Star Wars.

Whirlwind. Love it. Will never sell it. When people come over, it's 'tallica non stop. I have to beg people to play a game of WW.

#107 7 years ago

For me it was Fish tales I love it and found that I am the only person who plays it . Sold my a couple years ago. If I ever get a chance at another one it would be a keeper. Lol

To me like HS, that's just per pinball.

Quoted from Pinball-DOOD:

Arena by Gottlieb! A lot of people are unaware of how terrific some of those Gottliebs are! Even some of the early 80's Williams games! Get your system 3 and System 80b games while they're cheap! I think people will rediscover them soon and drive the prices up! For example, TX-Sector!

I like arena as well. Fun little game.

#110 7 years ago

Sharkey's Shootout just never seems to get any love but everyone loves EBD. Go figure...

#111 7 years ago

All people disliking 'no fear' are all very strange from my point of view..i like it...a lot...
Owned tz twice, taf three times and a lot more...no fear is still here! Rest is sold.

#112 7 years ago

SF2 and Barbwire

I like Ward Pemberton. If only because he told Python to go fluck himself and was fired, didn't care and became a full time Chicago fireman and part time game designer.

#114 7 years ago

Seems to be (Stern) Kiss lately for me. The more I play this game on location the more I have a blast with it, and it seems the opposite for the people I play with!

#115 7 years ago

A few sleepers I think are pretty cool are Twister & Cactus Jack.

#116 7 years ago

Stern NFL

#117 7 years ago

Rich man's version of a Striker Extreme re-theme. I prefer it as S.E.

#118 7 years ago

Hardbody never gets played by any of my family or friends. In my opinion that is their loss. Such a fast and challenging game.

#119 7 years ago

Pretty much any sega/data east game. Space Jam and Rocky & Bullwinkle cartoon themes always draws me in for a game or 2.

#120 7 years ago

Games I enjoy that others don't enjoy...Barb Wire, High Roller Casino, 24, and WOF.

Games I dislike that everyone else likes...WOZ, Hobbit, Dr. Who, Who Dunnit, WWE, and Game Of Thrones Premium/LE.

Too much fiber makes me sad ;(

I like all pinballs for one reason or another, even the worst or the worst!

#122 7 years ago
Quoted from homebrood:

I think you may need to change the way you poop.

#123 7 years ago

Theatre of Magic. Haters gonna hate.

#124 7 years ago

Special force for sure. Its one of the cheapest throw away pins out there. Its a nordman game with ramps, mutiball and pops that are huts and rapid fire when they are bombed. The game rules. Most people have never played it.

Dr who, hate it.

Side note: several have put alien star on the most people dont like it list. Seems like everyone likes it,..but again few have played it.

#125 7 years ago

A couple in my collection that get a fair amount of play are Strato Flite and Rogo.

Rogo (Nogo to many) brings me back to 1975 when I played games at a local arcade with my brother.

Strato Flite is just fast and there is a certain amount of luck involved.

I am also in agreement on WOF. Totally underrated and a game I should have never sold.

IMO Strato-Flite/Super-Flite is a gem.

I kind of afraid to admit I played the heck out of Popeye a few days ago and enjoyed it. It's not the best game out there but still fun. I feel like I am in a small minority of people that don't have a list of hated pins. With all the pins out there, it is fun to get into a game you have not played much before.

Feel the same, but my guests prefer the less intimidating WW over MET.
When MET ball saves they literally thank the game like its really nice of it for doing so ...

Does Jackbot get much love around here? I've recently enjoyed that game.

I actually want a Popeye...

#130 7 years ago

I forgot to list a game others like more then me. I don't hate it, but F14 was a disappointment. So much good going on, but for me it somehow didn't live up to the sum of its parts.

Street Fighter II

great shots, really hard wizard mode, progressive jackpots, guile shot is one of the toughest in pinball in my opinion. Playfield artwork doesnt suck like the translite. Have an alt translite so no worries there. Some interesting hurry up modes that can really pay off if you can hit a bunch of shots.

#135 7 years ago

Shoot, this question has changed a lot just in the ten years that I have been in the hobby. When I first started playing, anything stern put out was immediately trashed (maybe it hasn't changed all that much, although at least now there are more defenders).

IM came out and was hated, I love it. Now it gets its due.

WH20 was considered a hokey budget pin at best but now cracks the pinside top 20. Was and still is my favorite game.

Congo and Flintstones made me love Trudeau, Congo is finally getting a little credit thanks to Keith Elwin saying he liked it too. Maybe the Flinstones will head that way eventually as well.

But up to current feelings towards pins, I LOVE gottlieb system 1 and 3 games. Pretty much universally too, I love every one that I have played thus far and my Count-Down will never leave my collection.

Apollo 13 is an absolute blast to play and I don't care who thinks it sucks. So is Waterworld.

Anything Nordman has ever designed is fun to me including Wheel of Fortune, Indy 500, and Demolition Man that may not get too much love.

Another opinion that nobody seems to like: Stern Indy is great, but I don't like Williams Indy

Mostly popular games I dislike are Wizard of Oz, AC/DC, Black Knight +BK2K, GoT, Family Guy and World Cup Soccer

LW3
bought one to clean and fix, then trade.
Now its still here
realy like it somehow.

my JP will probably never leave.....so i think i'm a Data East fan?

#138 7 years ago

I love me some Sharkey's Shootout. I think it is a terrific update of the classic 8 Ball Deluxe. I enjoy the shots, strategy, and the ruleset. I will admit it's not stern's best game, but I don't think it deserves the bashing it usually receives. Here is a pic of my SS on location at Flat Top Johnny's in Cambridge with a custom translite.

As for popular games I don't enjoy: Dr Who & High Speed. One trick ponies

#139 7 years ago

Truckstop

#140 7 years ago

I actually enjoy KISS as it currently is and Ghostbusters. I initially hated GB however a have played it with an inlane extender mod, air ball protector, and a generous tilt warning and it's a great game. I wouldn't play GB as a tourney game or pay for it on location but it's certainly fun at home.

#141 7 years ago

I know no one in general likes the Bally KISS, but in the few years I owned it, I enjoyed it, but NO ONE else ever did. I'm a KISS fan so to speak still, so that might be one reason why I liked it, but, I just enjoy the SS Ballys as a whole.

#142 7 years ago

Ditto.

Ron...

Quoted from PinBallMagician:

Ok, ok, ok! I'm in. What Leo wants, Leo Getz. it's Lethal Weapon 3.

#143 7 years ago

Punchy the Clown.
A more challenging game to get a high score than most people believe.
Especially, if you use a powerball.
Best played in a private residence, not a location, with the ticket dispenser off.

#144 7 years ago

Gold Wings. I am the only one that plays it.

#145 7 years ago

I get a sick joy of playing my IJ4. Simple, mindless but sometimes that is a lot of fun.

#146 7 years ago
Quoted from codered9394:

Gold Wings. I am the only one that plays it.

Perhaps in the entire country.
Kidding! I like it once the siren is disabled.

#147 7 years ago

Stern NBA - regretted selling it day 1. I'll own another.

Gillian's Island - played at a tournament and am keeping an eye out for one.
Stern 24 - man crush on this game.

#148 7 years ago

Genesis. The only pin im not looking at display score. Just playing for unvailing the robot.

#149 7 years ago
Quoted from Nevus:

I really want one-if the parts were to become available again.

#150 7 years ago

Gilligan's Island. I had never played one until expo. Heard some "Meh" comments about it. I thought it was a blast to play.
