It would be pretty cool if they mounted a touchscreen near your right hand on the apron where as you could change settings in the gameplay or make choices "if you will" to shoot for certain goals or modes. I am unsure of the logistics or feasability to this financially for any company to incorporate this but I think from a players stand point this could be technologically interactive. Maybe this is the plan that Dialed in is taking with hooking up to a smart phone that Lawlor is thinking. Here is an idea make a Avatar creator app and have it uploadable to the pinball for LCD interactions while playing. Upload pictures might be dangerous with x-rated stuff but if you could take a picture and upload it to the pinball would be a cool concept. Or maybe have a camera within the pinball itself to take a snap shot of you before playing and have it incorporated into the game play somehow. I am just trying to think of pulling in the younger generations into pinball interest for operators. Just bouncing some ideas around.

Wow those OLED sure would be cool. Yes I think the cell phone app would be awesome to integrate. Love the talking pin. Would be great to have a Triumph the insult comic pinball...lol

    Self leveling PF...

It would be pretty interesting if they had a table that would alter levels during a mode incorporated into a machine. Think of the ball action on that. Maybe a surfing theme with the waves being simulated by the whole playfield moving. hmm

    #50 8 years ago

How about the grand champion gets to keep the pinball as its vended next to the coin slot...LOL a Pinball souvenir. Because Pinballs are cool!

I do like the idea of linking 2 or more games together and have goals be competitive on who can complete them first. Or Destroy your opponents score mode where tasks will subtract their points. So many options here.

    #61 8 years ago

I would also like to see LED side rails to draw you to the action and maybe grab onlookers towards the games...

    Quoted from Jean-Luc-Picard:

How about projecting info/data/image from "UNDER" the glass like a dashboard hud in automotive. You would need zones on the glass that have a tint applied so the projected light would be visible like P2k but inverted. This could be as simple as a semi-transparent decal you could apply on glass. In a way it is pinball 2000 upside down but it is much more I imagine the light could emit from various mechanisms all over the playfield. The math checks out, it can be done...
    hud_(resized).jpg

This would be a huge Wow factor that I think would draw in the younger crowd!

I think the magnetic slings on Ghostbusters is exactly the kind of stuff to refresh the game a bit. Hope they keep trying new stuff..can't wait to see these in action.

I think it would be cool to implement this tech into a pinball. mount the metal contacts into the lockdown bar and as you progress through a mode on the game the shock gets more intense. Shock Multiball mode or something LOL

    Quoted from toyotaboy:

You know that's not really electrifying anyone right? There's shaker motors inside and the handles are mounted on rubber gimbals. My brother used to work for gameworks, and he's never satisfied with anything so he added extra offset weights to bump up the vibration.

Never seen that machine in person so no I didn't realize this. They had old time machines (ie carnival style) that did shock though right? Thought I remember these as a kid. Maybe like this:

Maybe add some 4D experiences for the player. I think it would be funny to get squirted with water on a game such as a whitewater. Not so sure on the sensor-equipped motion seats for pinball but I guess it could be done...I prefer playing standing though!

A “4D” experience means that a 3D movie is combined with features like sensor-equipped motion seats, wind, strobe, fog, rain and scents

wanted to archive a few ideas from other threads here.

    Quoted from BC_Gambit:

100% agreed; I don't mean an easy to get to wizard mode or anything, just something "easy" but interesting for new players to do.
Heck, an opportunity on The Hobbit for this would be to have an easy to access mode where all four pop-ups raise and you have to hit them down. You get all four down, you clear the mode. Easy to understand. Reasonably rewarding (I accomplished something! Yay).
You could then have a harder version of the mode later in the game where if you don't clear them in X seconds, they start to raise back up (one by one) making it harder to finish. With the right audio cues that is more challening but still easy to understand.
For all I know, these modes are already in The Hobbbit, but buried somewhere. To me it seems like all chaos all the time, which has some razzle dazzle but is low down on the scale of feeling you accomplished anything.

The playfield is curved like a skateboard ramp to make the shots long....You have to be dialed in to make the long shots....lol

Ok I was also thinking that JJP#3 new system as well as others should implement something for location players. Especially JJP#3 pin like Dialed In where the game is not intuitive to what is going on at first glance. I feel the Pins are getting better sound systems and with the LCD display could really pull in new players by updating the attract mode of these games. Think carnival barker talking to you about the game displayed on the LCD with the sound on explaining the game to you in detail, hinting at and highlighting features of the game. The playfield can go dark and light up in unison with what the narrator is teaching or showing off. Think of all the cool attract sounds to pull potential players over to the games. Just an idea.

    #96 7 years ago

The Dialed In game could snap a picture of potential players walking by and say "HEY YOU, YES YOU!, come on over and play Dialed In as your picture is being blasted on the LCD

    Quoted from Joe_Blasi:

bally did that back in the 80's with some of the 6803 games.

I understand that they had some attract modes but I really think that with JJP's platform it really could be brought up a few levels to really pull players in.

Quoted from cdnpinbacon:tables that can be connected together (By a tube?) ..A pinball theme with a series of machines

    Quoted from cdnpinbacon:

tables that can be connected together (By a tube?) ..A pinball theme with a series of machines

Do you mean where the ball travels from one game to another through the connecting tube?

    Quoted from toyotaboy:

I think a pinball should adapt according to how you're playing in realtime. If you start playing really good, maybe the outposts are movable by servo control.

This is such an awesome idea! Widening the gap on the outlane depending on how you are playing is awesome...or maybe integrated into certain modes.

Other ideas to play off of what you have mentioned, Slings could be inactive or turned off during certain modes or like you said power adjusted or one of my ideas that they could be able to rotate or pivot which would change their angle.

Popbumpers could be inactive to cause different reactions with the ball or increase the likelihood that the ball would exit them in a certain way.

    #114 7 years ago
    Quoted from rammstein99:

    * An enclosed small sub-playfield with overlooking camera. When the ball is directed there, the camera will broadcast the sub-playfield onto the LCD backglass. Also has possibilities with graphical augmentation while the player is playing the sub-pf, they look to the LCD to see what is going on and when they hit certain targets, graphics or animations are superimposed over the action

This is a great idea...heck with the new JJP cabinet design they could have a three quarter sized playfield underneath. I love that the idea of superimposing graphics and animations.

Well set up my RUN DMD clock last night and loving it. Would be cool if they implemented showing the current time on pinball machines in attract mode.

    #124 7 years ago
    Quoted from GotAQuestion:

I have a feeling the time is intentionally NOT displayed so people forget what time it is and play longer. Same reason casinos don't have clocks or windows. Not that watches and cell phones aren't things, but people do forget to check.

True good point...probably is a play out of the casino's keep you playing by losing time.

    Forget slot tech.
Pachinko tech is where it's at. Multi layered 3d HD screens, Animatronics. If you mixed that with Pinball and magnets. It would be absolutely an incredible experience

As I revisit what you wrote this would be awesome so engaging are those Pachinko machines!

    #138 7 years ago
    Quoted from MarkInc:

Matt's Doom machine https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/doom-custom-pinball-machine does away with the shooter lane. He made his own trough mechanism and it shoots the balls out a scoop mid-playfield. Flipper/slings area looks very nice - fast, clean, balanced, symmetrical.

That is very awesome and a great way to introduce the ball to the playfield

Has there ever been a pin that has either ramps that moves not vertically but horizontally on the playfield to change the ball path? How about habitrails?

Widening flipper gap the better you are doing. The flippers would very very slowly widen as you play longer and score better on each ball. Outland post would widen on a servo as well depending on how you are doing. You could also have a task to narrow the flipper gap or outlines.

Vibrating playfield like the old football games.

    #146 6 years ago

I would like to see a pause feature where you could cradle the ball and have the flipper hold till. You get back...restroom break, grab another beer break.

    #149 6 years ago
    Quoted from Joe_Blasi:

what about save and load for the very long games like TSPP LOTR and others.

Yeah I like that a save and load current game feature would be awesome...especially in home use.

I was also surprised at how much my kids and guests liked the Judge Dredd supergame option. The game starts with a two-ball multiball, and you are given about thirty seconds to knock down all five drop targets. If you do, a 6-ball multiball starts.

I would like more games to have these mini games of sorts programmed into them. I think this is a fantastic idea and should be implemented more. I didn’t realize that this even existed. Are there any other mini modes tha5 anyone knows about in other games?

    Quoted from Electronmagic:

I'd like to see a digital spin counter on the playfield right next to a spinner. After a nice rip the number could stay up for a few seconds.
Could even be a new high score category, similar to a loop champion.

That would be awesome, great idea! To build on it it would be cool on a game to indicate a speed indicator like on a getaway style game.

The Munsters thread inspired this thought and maybe it has been implemented in a game already? I think it would be cool if a mini lower play field mode would become active with a certain goal to achieve on the lower field for a bonus or to light a special mode while the regular ball is still playing instead of it being locked.

(Same thought worded simpler) Maybe a timed mode on the lower to achieve some goal while still flipping the regular ball up top.

    Multi layer multi ball!

    #164 5 years ago
    Quoted from EalaDubhSidhe:

That's been done as far back as Black Hole.

From what I’ve read both the upper Playfields and lower are not active at the same time. Maybe it does I am not sure, I haven’t ever played a game that does that. Does it play both Playfields simultaneously?

    From Steve kuala.net

Black Hole has a Multi-Ball feature that will allow the play to have 3 balls in play at once time. In order to have a Multi-Ball event, you have to capture a ball in both the upper and lower capture holes. Each time a ball is captures, the machine will serve up another ball to launch. When the third ball enters the Gravity Tunnel and goes down to the lower playfield, the lower captive ball will be released, so you now have two balls playing on the lower playfield. When both of these balls drain, they will be kicked back up to the upper playfield. Then if you've enabled Re-Entry, they will be directed onto the upper playfield and the upper captive ball will also be released, and you'll have all three balls in play. If Re-Entry is not enabled, the two lower balls will drain, then the upper captive ball will be released for singal-ball play.

The nut shot lol, that’s pretty funny, I think I read something about Python Angelo had plans on pinball circus for a hip thrust button…not sure what it would do. I’ll have to revisit the Pinball Circus thread and see if I find the info to refresh my memory.

Glad to see this thread revived a bit always like to hear new ideas and past forgot ones as well.

    #180 5 months ago
    Quoted from ForceFlow:

The idea was to have a snake head between the flippers that would pop forward when the button was pressed to help save a ball doing down the middle.

Oh yeah that was it…too funny.
