I assume when you say 'manufacturing' you mean 'assembling.' And that still does not make sense. For example, a company selling a kit would not need the assembly line and hourly workers. They would sell a full set of components and subassemblies, and they could reduce the cost of the gme by this extra expense (or a fractio of it) to keep the same profit margin or increase it.
The real problem is the increased cost of tech support when things weren't put together correctly. At leas the factory has trained workers and pre-testing. Lots of stuff to go wrong in a pin!
