    Smoking was allowed on planes when I flew for work. In the USA, into the early 1990's and international flights about the mid-90's.

    The L. C. Smith (not Lenc-Smith) terminal that had the observation deck has been closed for about ten years now. Even when opened since the mid '80's, the deck was changed to school group tour use only.
