I love the color DMD in my Metallica.
Which game should I put one in next?

Yes, MBR is not really color DMD, but the option to add color is available.

Please don't say ALL, because DUH, of course!

    Thanks for your input!

I enjoyed the upgrade to shadow- really makes the game feel more modern

any of mine will be sufficient!

Never played a Godzilla with a color DMD.
    I would try that.

Mbr. It’s one of the best parts of the remakes.

    #6 3 years ago

I also vote MBr as not only do you get color but also higher resolution dots.

    #7 3 years ago

Agree. Bash is excellent with the color dots.

    #8 3 years ago

    All of them

Monster bash and Shadow are top notch with color dmd. Both Look extrem cool with colored dots

Fair warning, if you do buy an LCD version. The dot matrix versions black areas show through as grey pixels in broad daylight and there's currently no glare eliminator mod to put into it either. I wasted money on a filter from Comet Pinball. You cannot install direct to the DMD and if you install it to the back of the speaker panel then viewing at an angle you'll see double images (So basically anything above or below direct line of site) which makes it worthless. They were cool and refunded my money.

Modern Stern pins benefit the most from colordmd. The red dmds look so horrible. Classic pins have fewer animations and generally less detailed. They do look better with color but some more than others. I had a colordmd in my Shadow and didn't think it added much. Moved it to WH2O and much better. Nice thing about colordmd is you can move it to any game. You don't have to pick one game and keep it there.

If you order a Shadow or DH, the WPC power adapter that comes with it makes it easy to swap between these two with a color ROM update. If you get either Godzilla, Stern ST, SM or Mustang, the Stern Power adapter comes with the display, then it will be easy to swap between these since they use the same power kit and an easy color ROM update to make the swap.

So only 2 decisions is whether to buy one for a Stern game or WPC game and whether you buy an extra Stern or WPC power adapter kit to go between the manufacturer games.

SM on Cdmd looks amazing, especially the Sandman animations which are quite often and don’t look nearly as nice on a mono dmd

This is my vote as well. I have 12 and 8 more to go in my current collection.

    Spidey needs it the most...

STTNG is a must have but it just barely gets the edge on Mustang which has a to of dots.
I would make a list of what you play the most of and work down top to bottom - its only a matter of time.
We just did Elvis and fish tales here and my last orange DMD is iron man.

He has the Stern Star Trek in his collection, not STTNG.

    Quoted from HOOKED:

last orange DMD is iron man

That has been out for quite a while now.

SM does need it the most.

    Thanks everyone!
I was strongly thinking Shadow or MBr. Now I'm thinking SM.
I do like the idea that the two Stern games or two Williams games would be interchangable.
I'll decide in the next cpuple days and order one or another.

    Excellent point!
I was not counting Mustang and Godzilla.

That is why I mentioned it much earlier. You can try it in all the games before settling on one. That is when you realize you should had ordered 3. Haha

I just ordered the color chip for MBR.
The high res color image on the display during boot up convinced me.

I am thinking probably Spidernan next after that...............

    Thanks for your thoughts!
