Here's a good description of the unit.
From an interview
with Pete Sagan, chief engineer at Keeney:
"We had to get around the reel mechanism because of the Johnson Act.
So we came out with the Panascope with lighted symbols at the top. We
picked it up from the new computer business. The Panascope was an
adaption of a digital readout where they just showed numbers. We asked
the electronics outfit in California if they could screen symbols
instead of numbers, and they said yes. So we were on our way."
(Richard Bueschel, "Lemons Cherries and Bell Fruit Gum")
Quoted from seshpilot:Amazing. Seriously, this site never ceases to amaze me with cool people and their knowledge! Thanks Dennis!
