Most of my games are keepers too, so my oldest is also my first, KISS. I used to be in a KISS cover band, and my sister saw it for sale in a newpaper (remember those?) about 20+ years ago.
My "core" group of 10 pins or so I've had about 15 years. The other dozen (give or take) aren't quite as old.
Quoted from DaveH:
Getaway! Though right now it is on tour. It has been at my girlfriends house, and it has been loaned out a couple of times. Right now it is with a friend and he is keeping it warm. Sometime down the road it will be back at my house and I will play the crap out of it for a while, then it will go back on tour. It is just a great little game. I had toyed around with selling it a while back, but I just couldn't. I've never seen one on location that played anything like mine does, which is why I just can't get rid of it.
I said this 3 years ago, and it’s still Getaway. It’s been a couple more places since then. It spent some time in my office, and another friends house. And now it’s back at my house. Changed some lighting, added a playfield protector, but it still lives on with me. I wouldn’t even consider selling it.
Wizard & Capt Fantastic, because I paid only $800 for the two of them around 38 years ago.
Sky jump was my first. I can see my best friend still playing sky jump and my astroids cocktail with me when I look at them. He passed away about six years ago. The cost of me not having those memories reenforced is stupid money!
Ghostbusters was my first pinball machine and I will never sell or trade it, so that wins already.
Second game I purchased back in 2002.
Interesting story my Dad new an operator that had some games so I met him and the OP. He had 3 or 4 TZ's a few Addams and some others in the shop. As hard as I tried to buy a TZ he wouldn't sell me one but said he had a Whirlwind and even had just installed new displays. He fired it up and I played it. Played well but being new to pinball at the time I really wasn't interested. He said I could have it for $250 and I almost passed on it! but took it since my Dad new him and set the whole thing up. Still have it to this day and after playing flawlessly all these years its now getting a complete restore!
Only TWD broke a year because I couldn't get to Siege. I finally did about a month ago and sold it. If Alien had panned out I don't think I could sell it. Theme is what would last in my home. I mean it has to be a good game but if they make Jaws that will have some serious stay power.
