AFM playfield swap
I was just going to replace the busted ramps, once I removed them I realised i had 95% of the parts and have decided to go right in
most parts removed from the top of the playfield;

Freshening up a nice Pinbot I've had in storage since I got it in 2014. A little touchup to the coindoor, and removed a couple of decals that someone had applied to the front of the cabinet. The playfield never had mylar and shows only slight wear around the chest grid. I have a CPR pf but I'm torn between swapping it or just touching up the grid and throwing a Lexan protector over the current pf. Touchup & protector is probably going to win out for now.

Wow now there is a blast from the decade past. That is a pic of AFM double flipper playfield wear I haven't seen in a long time. Thanks for the memories PBP. Glad those repro playfields came out years later.
Victorian used pinball dealers gotta love em with what they want to pass off as normal wear and tear.

My current project TAF playfield swap.

Just cleaned up this filthy re-import Indy. I think some of this rubber must be original!

What size are the rubbers in your Indy 500 rubbers picture, the 2 smallest orange ones in a bag on the far left of the picture? These are the rubbers on the outlane\inlane post correct? I need to order some of these. Any idea what size they are?

Was going through a T2 today. Replaced the line of white drop targets and used one continuous wire on them, which should hold up better than the individual sections that kept popping off on occasion.

Fireball 2, doing a full restore on it, all new boards, Comet mostly warm white leds, clear coat pf and cab! Couldn't find any plastics available for FB2 so had to make one to replace the cracked window for the mini bonus ball. Also clearing, polishing and rebuilding TAF & GnR pfs! I'm also working with a friend on a Sexy Girl, Kill Bill WCS re-theme, Defender & Time Fantasy pf swaps! We've been hitting Marco & Comet hard for stuff...and tote-bags, candy! lol

Those are 7/16" OD. Yes, that's the inlane post size.

I have a question....why is it called shopping or shopped out a machine?? Does anyone know how that got started or where it came from??

#23 2 years ago

Don't know for sure, but I just assumed it was because often you'd bring it to a "shop" to have them do it for you. I wonder when it was first used, but guessing it probably migrated from other industry.

Quoted from timab2000:

I could be wrong but I think it began when operators would remove a pin from a location and return it to their “shop” for an overhaul (cleaning, rubbers, repairs). Then after it was “shopped” it was placed back on route.

Am I correct, guys?

I recently picked up a 4 Million BC that somebody had painted the entire cabinet and head in beige paint. Looks like something their wife made them do. Anyway, lots of rubbing alcohol, magic eraser and elbow grease and it came out pretty good. It will need some touch up but it was worth the effort.
