When we moved into our house, everything was brass. I replaced every doorknob and ceiling fan with ORB (oil-rubbed bronze). Also replaced the round knobs with levers, which are a lot easier to use when your hands are full. Then replaced the wooden stair spindles with iron, replaced all the ivory outlet and switch plates with white - I kinda went crazy those first few years.
