No theme would be worth the risk for me.

No theme would be worth the risk for me.
Quoted from o-din:Where's the fun in that?!
ALL the preorder companies have poor comunication skills
no reason to reward poor service with a sale
If I had the money and I wanted a theme bad enough I'd probably just build (or likely retheme) a machine myself.
This way if the builder unwisely spends the investor's money its all on me.
Quoted from PopBumperPete:ALL the preorder companies have poor comunication skills
I don't know man. I pre-ordered some furniture from Lazy boy and although what showed up looked like crap, the communication has been great!
And as far as the remaining five large I just sent to Spooky for TNA that should arrive next week, has been great so far.
Quoted from vid1900:How about a completely original theme like The Devil's Whorehouse ?
Hire Coop (the greatest living illustrator) to make a fun PG-13 game that only real men (and liberated women) could own.
Misfits.
Castlevania, the music is awesome, zombies, and monsters. Also, a Motörhead or Monsters of rock pin. Finally a NHL pin or Pittsburgh Penguins. I thought Maiden would be and is fun to play but still wanted more features in the Premium/LE not just a great shooting game.
This just goes to show, contrary to what others have stated, the pre-order model is not dead.
In fact, it is still alive and kicking!

"I'll have a diet coke and a big mac! Make it 'yuge'!"
Right now I am on a Pacific Rim kick. I think a machine based on that movie theme would look great. It would look cool if it was done like RFM. The plot was a little thin, so I don't know how well it would translate to a game. I don't know how many "big robot fights big creature" modes you could have. I still think I would be in for one of these.
To me, David Bowie or Zelda would be themes I might pre-order. Of those 2: Zelda would be a better theme for a pinball (I can't really see a David Bowie pinball, but hey.... if they make it, I'll just have to consider it ).
That said, I'd only pay part of the money in advance, and would have to like the developers enough to be ok with it to lose the money I send them if it all doesn't work out.
Quoted from RA77:Ah the 80's were so cheesy , I luv it !
John Carpenter easily a favorite, Theme audio, modes !, wow just wow !
I'll take both of these please !
These themes if correctly executed will easy pull 10 grand from my pinball addicted pocket !

I'd never do a pre order, but outside of Elvira 3, BIG trouble in little China would be a dream theme.
Slayer
Motorhead
Sabbath
Castle Wolfenstien
God of War
GTA
Darksiders
Total Recall
original StarTrek Tv or films
Running Man
Blade Runner
many others that will never see the light of day, we will most likely see The Munsters maybe Toy Story and this is the pinball world I'm forced to deal with. Thank Baby Jesus for TWD and Iron Maiden.
In no particular order:
-World of Warcraft
-Watchmen
-Nightmare Before Christmas
-Archer
-Bob's Burgers
-Jules Verne Mash-up
-Vikings
-Insane Asylum Horror Game (think the old computer game Sanitarium)

You don’t buy a Big Mac in a Diner, Silly!

That's why Pinsiders are pinheads and not marketing-heads

Isn't that the nature of this website? Then remember how many have gone on to become reality.
Quoted from Reznnate:So many bad ideas in a single thread. lol
So many bad ones and so many have come to light, this whole hobby seems to be based on bad ideas, bad humor, for the most part bad art and bad music just look at 90's DMD's.

Still trying to find that video again. Must have been taken down because of a Wapner infringement.
Quoted from RyThom:Death Wish!
I would think one of the established pinball companies must have that on the short list of big money makers for the not too distant future.

Stern was 2 months too late on that one!

2 months, 2 years, 2 decades or even more. That never stopped them before.
It would be a tough choice chooseing between "Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars" and "Frank Zappa's Dangerous Pinball"

I'm still waiting for my t-shirt...

I used to laugh when they were trying to push us to route Gilligan's Islands after 26 years, but WOZ took the cake with 75 years, lol
(although 4 Million Years BC, was I guess the longest with 4,001,971 years )
Quoted from vid1900:I used to laugh when they were trying to push us to route Gilligan's Islands after 26 years
It was a novelty when GI came out and we had one on location. It wasn't really taken that seriously as there were so many current themed games coming out at around the same time.
We had no idea that 25 years later the whole industry would become a novelty for the most part.
Classic car/truck project restoration theme.
Game would need to have some timer elements included so if you didn’t score enough points fast enough, your rebuild project would drop in status from “project” to lawn ornament to rust heap to second mortgage on the house to neighbor sold it for scrap metal.
But the bonuses would include things like upgrades to crate motor, manual 5-speed, custom paint job, Retro seat coverings and the like.
A special layer of the playfield would be created to “ramp into” once you’ve built your vehicle of choice up with competitive feedback like “you won best of show”, “swap for a ‘69 Camaro”, or “broke down before you arrived at the event” type quotes.
I’d sell my wife’s minivan to buy one of these that was well done.
Then again, I’d sell her minivan to buy a sweet ‘56 F100!
