slam tilt , so people don't pound on the door ,

If you shove the machine too hard or kick the door, that weight will close the switch and end the game

Ah! That makes sense! I knew about the tilt bob, this one was new to me. Thank you!

The purpose of the Slam tilt / Slam switch /slap switch exc. inside the coin door is to prevent people from obtaining free credits by banging on the door. Which was a common problem for operators before its invention. The slamming of the door would cause the coin switch contacts to close momentarily thus simulating the dropping of a coin or token.

Thanks

For home use, where the coin slots are unused, re-mount the slam tilt switch behind one of the coin return buttons. Makes for an easy way to stop a game in progress without power cycling the whole machine.

Alternatively, for many machines on free play simply holding down the start button for a few seconds restarts the game.

That only works when the first ball is done, otherwise it adds another player... And if you do it before the game registers you're on the second ball, it's annoying. (speaking from experience... ).

Tilt bob ends ball in play. Slam tilt ends the game or games if more than one person is playing. The theory back then was if multiple people were playing and one kicked the coin door and killed all the games, the other players would give the offender crap and he maybe wouldn't do it again.

I don't know about your game. Other games may have a slam tilt by the cash box on the left side, and EM's might have one behind the backglass too, to prevent banging credit wheel unit when it's moving.

My Pit Stop had one on the relay board, in the bottom of the cabinet.

If you are on your second ball and held down the start button wouldn’t it clear out current game and start a new one. It only adds a second player if I hit button before second ball is in shooter lane. At least on my dh
