Yes, I did google. I know it means collect score. Maybe it is register.

Ring button ? Referring to a button on the lockdown bar ?

Where did you see it mentioned ? That might help sort it out.

Right button? Left button?

Replays.

I always figured it meant register replays. Some of the six cards use a 'c' button for 'collect'. Same idea.

I even have a reprint manual and that thing also says just r button.

They call it that because pirates love to play pinball, and refer to it as the "Arrrrrrrrh!" button.

I would guess “right” button. Is there an L BUTTON?

The Right and Left buttons have the full words:

There is no factory explanation for the meaning of what the R stands for that I can find. Even in the Carnival Queen (the first game with an 'R' button) manual it is just listed as the 'R' button.
We have just called it the 'Replays' button since I was a little kid. I like Nicks' name. "Register Replays" button.
Hey Butch, what do you think?

I got this one. The R button stands for "really". Like when it goes right down the middle. None of my machines have R buttons. They all have F buttons though.

It's functions appear to be listed on the "S/I Card Scan 1", found in the lower right cloumn on this Bally bingo site:

I thought thr "R" button was only found on games with a pirate motif.
