Many of my spanish games gave a handicap setting. Mainly Inder games. Never understood what it does or how it effects gameplay. The manuals never specify. Just says that the dip settings set the handicap value to such and such. But never say what it actually does.
Like bushido. I can set handicap score value for 150m 200m 250m or 300m

Moon light i can set handicap for 20. Or 30 or 40 or 50 orbits.

Is it for extra ball? Free game? Bonus points? Punch in the crotch from a secret coin door hatch? I cant figure it out.

Yo no se, lo siento

I’ll bet it means free game, but why not pull the glass and find out and report back? Inquiring minds want to know!

Looks like it is the replay score. Some games had a self adjusting score separately for each player. From Recel Poker Plus manual:

so for games that don't have free play, i'd want this as low as possible

That sounds like it auto adjusts like replay percentaging, but it doesn't actually mention replays at all, couldn't it also be something else with a similar mechanic?

I think that is like a high score to date setting. Sometimes you can change the reward which is a one free game or more.

It is probably like high score to date:

There are separate settings for replay score and "handicap":
