I recently acquired a Williams BSD pinball machine. I realized that the graphics on it looked really nice, with unfaded rich red colors. I thought- wow! these cabinets are always faded. I have personally restored many games using the Next GEN decals and they look pretty nice, but the artwork on this BSD looks different. It looks nice, but it's definitely not Next GEN. Once I found out who the seller bought the game from, it made sense. He bought it from a company in Pennsylvania that sells restored games for the home market. Apparently, they print their own decals. They don't look bad, but I was curious to see what everyone else thinks about that.

Quoted from Frax:

If the official repros are available, I don't understand why they'd even do that. That's a lot of work to end up with an inferior product you can't sell for as much money. If repros aren't available....well, then I guess if someone wants to make money off them and is holding the licence, they should find a way to make them available, yeah?! If there's nothing on the market and no indicator that an official licenced replacement is coming, then I could give a crap less about other people reproducing needed parts. I do have to wonder though...if it's not going to be done right anyways, why didn't they just touch up the red...then at least it would've been semi-original. Now it's in a weird grey area where it doesn't look as nice as it could have, but it's too much of a PITA for most people to replace.

It actually looks really nice- I'm sure it would fool many of the Pinside crowd. It didn't fool me because I've restored a lot of games.

Quoted from ForceFlow:

Was it a direct print directly onto the cabinet, or were they actual decals?

I believe they are decals.
