    Quoted from skink91:

This is nonsense. Nobody in their right mind puts ketchup on a hotdog.

Wrong, 61% of America does put Ketchup on hot dogs. I can see if you have mostly Polish, Jewish or German ancestry why you would think that way, but a lot of us don’t have that heritage.

Also, hot dogs are terrible in food/nutrition quality so they are really not worth shaming people over what they put on them to make them tolerable/palatable.

    Quoted from PinDeLaPin:

Has to be ketchup. Bbq sauce on a hot dog is just all kinds of wrong

Hot dogs are a crap food, people have to do what they can to tolerate them. Lol

    Quoted from PinDeLaPin:

Certainly aren't a staple of health food I agree but when I do eat em i'm not cheaping out

I agree, if I buy them I usually get a decent brand such as hebrew national or ball park beef and use heinz ketchup and name brand mustard. I probably eat hot dogs an average of three times a year.

    Quoted from LTG:

Let's not discount a good, wholesome, gas station hot dog.
    LTG : )

I honestly am like a canary in a coal mine with meats. I will feel dizzy and lethargic if I eat certain meat products without offsetting it with some healthy foods in the same meal. I usually do not eat hot dogs unless I am at home because I can get ill and sometimes get migraines that put me out of commission for hours.

    Quoted from pinzrfun:

The coney island 1.5 miles away has .99 coneys on Mondays, and we got into that groove for a little while a couple years ago but it wears out quickly. Nice getting dinner for about $5 though.

Do you have costco food courts?

    Quoted from poppapin:

    Maybe it's from the ketchup!

I get it from steak with no sauce also. I believe it is from high bilirubin (Gilbert’s syndrome).

    Quoted from PinDeLaPin:

Some serious ketchup hating going on in here

I really do believe it is ethnic driven, meaning ancestry.

    #248 2 years ago

For some reason some say it is ok put ketchup on hamburgers but not hot dogs despite they both can be all beef.

The other thing to consider is that a lot of people don’t like mustard or pickled things at all.

    Quoted from skink91:

    I… just… can’t… what??

Polish, German, Jewish. I seriously don’t think French or English would be thinking no ketchup. I had never heard of no ketchup on a hot dog until about 15 years ago when I had a work picnic and a Jewish guy made a comment about my hot dog having ketchup. People put whatever they like on hot dogs in Virginia such as ketchup, mustard, mayo, relish, onions and nobody cared.

    Quoted from skink91:

    They must be racists.

    WTF

It is all about what a person is used to. You are the one shaming people for being different.

    Quoted from Raedwald:

I'm English and I hate the stuff! Keep it plain, or if it does need some form of seasoning, sprinkle a few chilli flakes under the dog.

Are you referring to hot dogs or sausage? I can’t imagine eating hot dogs without something on it. Sausage that I am used to is a little different as it tends to be more seasoned and greasy than a hot dog.

    Quoted from embryonjohn:

It’s simple. Hot dogs contain 99% of the ingredients & flavoring as bologna and if you’re making a bolo sandwich, every sane person thinks, mustard or mayonnaise.
    Never ketchup, never.
Please don’t tell me you put ketchup on bologna.

Like LTG, I don’t eat bologna either. When eating sandwich meat it is either turkey or ham. Also, I can’t think of anything that is eaten cold that I would put ketchup on.
Fresh sliced tomatoes are the tomato product for sandwiches.

    Quoted from LTG:

    French silk pie.
I did it once on a dare in a restaurant. I can't say I'd ever do it again.
    It wasn't bad. Almost good.
    LTG : )

Mmm, french silk pie, just not with ketchup.
