I know there are a lot of guys that like having the box. It adds a little something extra if it comes with a HUO. I know a guy who regularly sells boxes alone for $75. I folded and kept my Metallica box as it was my first NIB. It is kind of a huge waste of space though, so not sure if I'll keep it in the long run.
