Just wondering what everybody does for a living.

Fix pinball and arcade machines! Due to medical reasons I can't hold a job right now so I decided to extend my hobby into a job and work on my own time when I'm feeling good to make a living. Since I still live at home (I'm 18), it pays for my expenses and also funds the hobby.

I was in corporate accounting for awhile, passed the CPA exam, then decided it was sucking the life out of me. Think the movie "Office Space". Now I work on the docks in the best Union in the country....and make more money too. No chasing that carrot.

I work for and have only worked for the New Mexico Gas Company in Albuquerque as a Gas Measurement system administrator and have been there 36 yrs, four more to go being retiring. Pay is really good with full benefits and yearly profit sharing of which I have used to buy several pristine pins with each year of which have now filled up my game room. Father of Trevor the Mad Modder who keeps Just3dMods.com stocked and which I freely help at as well.

Senior engineer management positions absorb the life out of you over time, and you are 100% on call, all the time, including weekends.
Less income, but better hours, reduced stress, and no more combat deployments.
The money simply is not worth it, nor the risk.

I'm a software engineer currently focusing on back end API's and web based business applications such as project management, payroll, accounting, and medical records. Oh, and also a full time student. I hope to move to game development eventually.

Broadcast/studio engineer for main TV networks in the uk. Been doing this for 32 years, but the studios I work for will close in a year, when I'll have to find something else. Hopefully something pinball related, I was thinking of becomming a pinball field service engineer, but I think that would be hard to make a living from in the uk!
