I recently bought a very nice Guns N Roses pin, but am noticing weak coil power in several areas:

1. The ball often times only make it half way up the ramp and onto the playfield when starting a new game.
2. The left outlane save sometimes takes 2 or three pops before kicking the ball into play (they seem to increase in intensity with each try).
3. When you shoot a ball into the band hole and it shoots up vertically several inches and back onto the playfield, it can be weak. It always makes it up, but sometime just barely.

Are all these low power issues because of one larger issue? I’m not vary versed in my tech language, so this probably seems vague. Is there like a new power supply I should install to give these coils more pop? I was able to play about 20 games with various degrees of coil power, but now the ball launch at the start of the game won’t even get the ball 12 inches up the ramp.

Thanks in advance for the suggestions!

Data East: did you check and reflow the solder joints to the ppb board?
Did you check the diode arrangement to the + 50 volt bridge rectifier?
Did you check the clamping tension of the fuses on the ppb board?
( they are prone to break!)
Did you reseat the wires to the idc connector for the ppb board?
(use a small screwdriver)
Did you apply the service notice for Data East Guns-n-Roses pinball?
( exchange the old launch wire ramp assembly to the new wire ramp
assembly that goes under the "R" ramp )?
Did you reseat the wires from the CPU idc connector to the ppb board?
Did you check the +32 volt from the power supply board to the ppb board
relay assembly?
Etc,etc,etc.

Also, ensure the coil sleeves are clean and the plunger is not mushroomed which would cause drag.
Make sure the shooter lane launcher is hitting the ball squarely.

Although probably not the root of your problem, when all else fails you can turn up coil pulse in the game menu. Gives the game a little more kick.
