AKA Battle of the Planets, which is in the poll.

    #102 2 years ago

The poll leader, Futurama, has now become a no-brainer:

The series is being revived (as in, new episodes) on Hulu!

I was a big fan of John Dilworth's indie stuff, but I dunno. - Courage didn't work for me at all. I know kids of a certain age have big nostalgia for it, though. Ever see his pre-Courage stuff?

John DiMaggio just signed on for the new Futurama run . He was the only hold out among the voice actors of any major character that I’m aware of . Somebody PLEASE grab this license and go over the top with it ! Day one buyer of an LE here

Hunter x Hunter has an excellent story, characters, and content to make a great pin. It would be nice to see an Anime theme.

I am surprised King of the Hill only has 30 votes so far.

    #117 2 years ago

    Someone make Futurama already!

It is so obviously the best cartoon theme waiting to be made. So many possibilities. It would be as funny as Rick and Morty without all the F-bombs.

Futurama has more humor in each episode than everything Scooby put together.

Seems to me that King of the Hill's humor (which I love) is a little too deadpan to squeeze a pin out of, I tell you whut.

King of the Hill is getting a reboot which should be out this year I believe. Maybe that pin still could be possible?

Won't be this year. They're still developing it. It's not even officially picked up yet, and animation takes a long time. New Beavis & Butt-Head is far into production, though. That'll be this year.

    #127 2 years ago

One Punch Man is not on the list but does deserve one if you have watched the series. Here is a teaser of season 2 on the link:

If there was gonna be an anime pin my vote would go to Ninja Scroll. If stern reskinned Deadpool it would be an awesome boutique release. Still one of the best anime films ever!

    Quoted from DanQverymuch:

Mickey Mouse? Sure, except that he was never actually funny as far as I remember, he is more of a mascot than a beloved character, and his name is now used to mean "lame" or "cheap" or "phoning it in"...
And the license would no doubt be astronomically priced.
Not to mention, MM is sort of already taken.
But yeah, I just bet all the little old ladies who collect Mickey crap would love a pinball machine!
(To be honest, I'd be in on an Uncle Scrooge pin, though!)

You must have missed out on all the original Mickey, Donald, and Goofy cartoons from the 30's and 40's. Much better than all the crap out today. The current Mickey Mouse cartoons look like they were scripted and drawn by the same clowns that did Ren and Stimpey.
The originals from way back when were terrific. You are correct in that Mickey himself was more of the straight man (mouse) for the antics of Donald, Goofy and Pluto.
I also agree that it likely would not make a great pin.

    #132 2 years ago

I spent every Saturday morning sitting in front of the TV watching cartoons from the late 60's through the mid 70's. I caught some additional ones in the 90's when my kids were growing up. Some toons in the poll I have heard of and/or watched. Others, I have no idea what they are. I would not be interested in any of them as a theme for a pinball machine to consider seeking out or owning.

Wow. There are a lot of soy boys in pinball. GI Joe, Thundercats, Robotech, Voltron, He Man, these should be dominating. F’n Scooby Doo (facepalm)

    #134 2 years ago

Futurama has so much material and so many great characters and moments that the issue is not whether or not it would be a good pin but whether or not any designer / code team could do it justice .

I don't know how this hasn't been done.. I mean it's matt groenig for crying out loud, 2 simpsons pinball machines.. Zero futurama.
Seeing how family guy got a pinball, I'm sort of surprised we never got an american dad pinball as well.

    #136 2 years ago

Futurama is the first to hit 100 votes.
    Scooby Doo is at 96.
Beavis and Butt-Head is at 77.

I sure did, and I have always wondered whether any existed and, if so, why they haven't been shown through the ensuing years the way Popeye cartoons were. Despite that, much of my sense of humor is derived from reading Donald Duck and Uncle Scrooge comic books, especially the Carl Barks ones. Never cared much for any of the action comics, and still don't care for the derivative movies.

Also, Ren and Stimpy would make a great pin! I loved R&S up until John Kricfalusi, the creator, left (was fired). Genius cannot be rushed.

Every time the timing for a Futurama pin would have been right, it got cancelled. It’s coming back again - so now would be the time to strike.

I voted for Inspection Gadget, as I really enjoyed it as a kid. Scooby Doo or Wacky Racers would also be a great themes. My all time favourite that isn't listed is Hong Kong Phooey.

"Battle of the Planets, the hacked up poorly dubbed Sandy Frank travesty.
They cut out a lot of the action, added a robot that was never part of Gatchaman, and tore up the entire original series story line.
The only thing the kind of got right was they did use *Some* of the original music.

Maybe so, but I enjoyed it in my youth. More robots, the better.
