I’d love to hear some recommendations for top 10 games that could be played with a Streetfighter 6 button layout. I’m picking up one with something like thousands of games on mine, and will be curating it down to something a little more manageable per others advice. My top 10 right now are:

1. Galaga
2. NBA Jam
3. Rampart
4. Rampage
5. 1941
6. Street Fighter 2
7. NFL Blitz
8. Gauntlet Legends
9. Dungeons and Dragons
10. Dig Dug

What are some of your favorites?

Peeps at my house usually gravitate to a version of Golden Tee

I am partial to Robotron 2084 (assuming you have two joysticks) - that game likes to kick my butt...

If you have two 8-way joysticks, Robotron 2084 is a great adrenaline-pumping game!
If you can display Vector graphics properly, Black Widow is also great and has the same controls as Robotron.
Many SHMUPS (Raiden II, Do Don Pachi etc...)
Lots of fighting games...
The only other decent 8-way joystick game that I can think of is...Bubbles...

Bummer. One of my favorite games, but I don't know that I would make space for a dedicated T&F cabinet.

#24 4 years ago

What isn't good with track and field? I play it on my mame. Seems fine.

Had a dedicated Hyper Sports for years, loved it but yeah that much space for 1 game is too much for me.

Button config is too diff'rent from dedicated in the movement events. Things like Hammer & Skeet Shooting aren't horrible though.

#26 4 years ago

Don't you just mash buttons as fast as you can?

#27 4 years ago

Bosconian is a good one as well. Robotron is of course the best one.

Shout out to underrated classic Zookeeper. It's fun when you first start to play it, then it gets cheesy, then it gets fun again once you learn the advanced strategies.

#40 4 years ago

TMNT/TMNT2/X-Men/Simpsons

And none of this "give yourself 99 lives and blow through the game" crap. Give yourself a single dollar where 1 quarter equals 3 lives, and see how far you can get. Anyone can just give themselves unlimited quarters, but it takes true skill and learning the computer's patterns to get through these games on limited lives.

#41 4 years ago

WARLORDS.
Hard as hell Definitely has the one more game effect.

#42 4 years ago

Some great ones already listed. I will add Time Pilot, and an addictive sleeper is Funny Bubble. Check it out if you haven't already! Nudie pic if you beat the level, but that's not what makes the game great, it's just a bonus!

#43 4 years ago

Mr. Do and Joust.

What are some of your favorites?

Try some great games that you probably never heard of before, or at least not tried before...

The Glob (and/or Super Glob)
Bongo
Beezer (really hard game)
Q*bert's Qubes (it's better than Q*bert once you figure out what you're doing)
Popper (if you like Q*bert you might like Popper even better) Note: not the Hard Head bootleg.
Agent X (or Cloak & Dagger, same game different title screen), great intermission between levels screens.
Black Widow (if you like Robotron, you'll like Black Widow)
Canyon Bomber (very simple and great simultaneous two player game)
Turkey Shoot, awesome game, but MAME doesn't do it justice. Need to play the real game, so skip it I guess. Or come play it at my house.
Rampart (need at least 2 players and even better with 3)
Cube Quest (best attract mode sequence EVER, even if you don't play the game, at least watch/listen to that)
Akka Arrhh
Journey
Wacko
Food Fight
I, Robot
Quantum
Major Havoc
Kram
Electric Yo-Yo

Ok, I'll stop now. So many other great obscure games out there.

Asteroids
Dig Dug
Joust
Tutankham

#48 4 years ago

Ok. What is the best web site to download ROMS?

#49 4 years ago

Hat trick = best sports game ever. Ok slight exaggeration but I really love that game. Best Senete game for sure.

Marble madness

Reactor Gottlieb

Cliff Hanger

Elevator Action returns

And all the normal classics

Trog - fun 3 player game

Outrun

Battle zone.
