Quoted from Nikrox2:

Picked up a nice looking Cow Poke over the weekend (First Wedge Head!) Some issues but the major one is someone stuck another games rotary target in there, didn't wire it up just left cut wires and left it as is. Ball count isn't counting down but does count up for add a ball, so hopefully that's just a minor fix. And it seems to be missing some of the bells, but the coils are there, just needs some TLC!
Love the bucking bronco kicking the cow boy's butt! At least that part works! ha![quoted image][quoted image]

Congrats. Such an attractive playfield IMO.

Finally finished rebuilding the 2 yellow pop bumpers on my Flip a Card. While I was at it, I put on new skirts and caps, removed the nasty Mylar rings and after cleaning I repainted the circles, clear coated and waxed.

Feels good.

Currently working on a Stardust , almost complete. After that starting on an Aztec I picked up over the weekend.

Hope you post some pics of the Stardust. That was the first pin I ever played and I rarely see them. It was in a Holiday Inn near my school growing up in the mid 70s and we used to cut class to go play it and a table-top Pong video game.

Scott, that looks fantastic. I’m getting ready to pick up my new Wizard next week and the cabinet and backbox have a hideous brown faux paint on both. Might have to get some advice.

Of all the machines to cover up the artwork on.

Picked up a 62’ Williams 3 Coins yesterday. Lots of work to do on this one. Melted 40 year old rubbers that have virtually disintegrated, plastics that are seriously warped.

Backglass is nice for 59 years old and I need to repaint the cabinet.

The white crap on the playfield is mostly rubber residue and should clean up decent other than the gouges on the lower center part. Although it doesn’t power up, the machine is surprisingly clean in the backbox and under the playfield, considering it’s been sitting for 30+ years (but in a climate controlled room).

Looking forward to bringing this beauty back to life.

3 Coins playfield cleaned up pretty good if you compare the pics above. Got the off white band on both sides next to the girl and the 10 of spades on the right repainted. Lots more detail to repaint and then clear coat.

Cleaned and flattened the warped plastics.

New Bell Coils, target faces, rubbers and bumper caps from PBR arrived this morning.

A few before and after pics of the machine that sat idle for close to 30 years. Really liking this Pin and I never thought I’d enjoy one this old.

I had already gone through the Palooka and broke it down a few years ago and now once again have some added space
so took her out of the barn. I normally go through a machine 100%, but having already gone through this one, I dissembled
and cleaned the Ball Count Unit, slapped her together, and played a game. After a couple more hours of a little more freshening,
she'll once again be back in a line up..

Cool looking game. Looks like Al Capone leaning on the ropes is going to make the palooka an offer he can’t refuse.

#2067 2 years ago

Finally brought this guy home today after a 4 hour round trip.

Really dirty cabinet and playfield and has the usual issues of one that’s been stored in barn-like atmosphere for years but I think it will clean up pretty good and it’s surprising clean inside.

The playfield planking isn’t as bad as my Flip a Card when I got it but I’ve got some work to do.

Congratulations. "Top Card" is an excellent player. The ball is always in motion due to four slingshot kickers. I love getting the up/down specials on the slanted inlanes when they're lit for special. So cool getting that double knock!

I had one awhile back. Complete restoration including the playfield done by HSA. It was a beauty and played great.

You ought to see the machines the guy that I bought it from has. Incredible wedgehead
collection. Only problem is, he can’t play any of them because his whole house is packed with junk from his move from a bigger place, so he’s in sell mode.

If he can dig them out.

Newest addition after doing some cleaning, playfield repainting, clear coat, bulbs, rubbers, bumper caps, cleaning of score reels etc...

Rebuilt flippers and pops. This machine just had a few issues to get it to 100%. Easy to work on too.

#2102 2 years ago

Saved this youngster from the dumpster and it was on my wishlist. Dirty as hell and had shattered tempered glass all through the cabinet.

It had been sitting in the back of a garage in Nashville since the early 90s and yes it came complete with a syringe and hypodermic needle and a screwdriver buried under the bottom board.

Backglass is trashed pretty good but the playfield and plastics should clean up good. Looking forward to restoring this one but it is my last one. The inn is full.

Wild Card playfield cleaning and paint touch up finished. Fixed the mangled spinner too. Could do a little more touch up on the yellow but it’s so transparent and I don’t want any buildup. Not perfect but I can live with it. Ready for clear coat.

I’m finally done adding to my collection and am looking forward to spending the winter fine tuning and making what I have look as good as possible.

Got a few neglected pups in the lineup.

#2121 2 years ago

Wild Card plastics cleaned up really nice with some Mean Green. I guess the protective coating of filth preserved them.

It seems like if a machine sits idle in a garage for 25+ years, it’s better off cosmetically with no playfield glass on. That was the situation according to the owner’s grandson and the playfield stayed in good shape and cleaned up pretty easy.

Just brought this one home today and it’s in pretty decent shape including a nice backglass.

Looks like it’s a fun game and I’m looking forward to fixing it up but as you can see, the former owner replaced all the pool ball playfield inserts with plain white one except for the 3 and 5 up top.

They are nice and level but I sure would like to have the numbers on them. Short of finding someone parting one out, does anyone know of any type of number stencils out there for this? Maybe to use with a black oil based paint pen.

Thanks.

Water slide decals would be very easy to make since you just need numbers and the circle. Unfortunately you would need to clear coat the playfield to protect them. If you go that route let me know. I have a file for the colored balls.

Thanks for the info and I always clearcoat after playfield touch ups so that would be no problem.

I don't know. This looked like a lot of fun! LMAO watching this!

I haven’t laughed that hard in long time.

I'm borrowing this photo from another thread on Pinside.
This is what the retaining ring looks like (lower left corner).[quoted image]

And he should check with pinhead52 to see if he has one. I may have one but I’m not sure. I’ll check tonight.

Quoted from erak:

Here are before and after pictures with retro LEDs added.
I think I might go back to incandescent bulbs. The nip it lettering has blinkers behind it. So it looks out. But it's not. Thoughts on switching it back?

It looks nice. Some games just don’t have enough lighting or good light placement and benefit from LEDs and some do and look great with 44s.

My solution to the former problem is Warm white frosted LEDs from Comet. I tried the Sunlite bulbs from Comet but they are a tad too bright and white.

Quoted from Dono:

Even when I was a young buck playing this game I could never figure out why GTB used a checkerboard image on the drops... thought this was a big oversight. If I had this game I'd come up with something that makes more sense.

Good idea.

Dennis Hopper’s facial image on the drops would get my vote.
