Very nice! Is that an original cab, or redone?

Here’s my Bally Safari I’m working on. Some people might like my restoration choices, others may not.

Thanks! I know some purists don’t like powdercoating, but I think the colors mesh well.
Here’s the full restoration thread if anybody wanted to check it out.

Quoted from John_in_NC:I get it. I have completely restored basically worthless games, Spin Wheel (two of them) Merry-Go-Round, Mayfair, Ship-Mates. None are particularly collectible
Right there with you. Now that my skills are a little better, I’d like to go back and redo some things on my Vampire. Maybe even redo and clear the cab.
I wish the playfield in Safari was better. If anybody has a lead on a good, or an NOS one, or a nice backglass, let me know.
Quoted from stashyboy:Wow! Look at you go! That playfield looks pretty decent to me. Maybe a bit more shooter lane wear than would like, but most paint seems intact.
Yeah, it’s OK. Some minor planking, and I was able to do some good touchups but there were a few others done by previous owner that I couldn’t undo. For that reason, I didn’t want to clear it.
Quoted from Gotemwill:I am beginning work on this 1946 Chicago Coin Goalee. It is complete but it will take some time to correct all of the previous repair attempts.
That game looks awesome! Somebody had a backglass for that at PinFest that I wanted to buy, and I totally forgot about it.
Quoted from Silverstreak02:I installed my bottom board.
Quoted from jrpinball:That's so damn clean!
Beyond clean. Very nice.
So I replaced the anti-cheat coil on my Safari, now it’s permanently engaged and humming. Game wont boot, but does light up if I hold the anti-cheat mech closed.
The tilt is closed on the coin door. Anything else I can look at?

That’s a bummer man, wrap it up and set it on the curb I’ll come by and take away for you.
Along with my Halloween sitting down here 1/2 done relegated to the basement, sitting lonely in the corner. Lol

It’s all good. My buddy Mark might help me figure it out Sun or Mon. Thanks for the effort.

Nice and shiny.
Quoted from mrm_4:I’m working on a Williams Space Mission and a Williams Strato Flite and both playfields are missing a label in the same place.
Anyone have a Williams game with this label still attached that can post what it is?
Just checked my Spacelab, no luck. Mine is missing too.

Quoted from Mopar:I sent a message and let him know I had multiple trading pieces,
Thing definitely has a nice artwork. Looks like it’s in good condition too.
Quoted from tripplett:Cleaning the playfield next, rebuilding the flippers, some new plastics, shooter tip, new balls, bulbs, rubbers, etc.
You should definitely strip that transformer board, light sand, paint and clearcoat it. Does wonders for keeping it clean after. You can just wipe it with a rag. I do it on all of my games now.
Plus it makes the game really happy.

#2 x 1/2” on Bally EM.
Some bodies take #4 x 1/2”
Quoted from DanMarino:Also what size machine screws hold the Bally apron down?
#8 x 3/8”
That game is looking real nice.
Quoted from DanMarino:Rats! Looks like I’m two posts short!
How many posts are you short, and how many screws for the apron? I may have some of both.
And I think I might have a much better condition apron somewhere. I don’t think I got rid of it, but can’t remember for sure. I can look around my basement if you’re interested.
Quoted from psd4me:What did you do to paint the Rocket iii cab? Stencils? I have one I need to do and most of the original art is gone.
I did one before too, but used red. A little before and after. Definitely a fun and attractive game I regret selling.
Cab looks great Mark.

Quoted from pkurfess:The score motor in the machine also runs but other than that I can't get the game to start. Any ideas what I should look for first?
Check all the tilt switches, the game over relay and the switch stacks for the coin chutes.
If the scoring motor is running continuously, you may have to adjust the index stack all the way to the left. Check the schematic though for NO or NC before you go bending leaves.
Quoted from EMsInKC:Finished Cross Town.
Quoted from jaytrem:Finally done with Roller Coaster. I'm pretty happy with the results. Before pics can be seen here...
Games look awesome fellas. Very nice work.
I want to start tackling my GTB Derby Day soon. Can anyone tell me if the legs were chrome, cream colored or red out of the factory?
I’m seeing conflicting information, and there are various colors in the photos on IPDB for this game. I was given 31 inch legs with the game, but they are black. And I’m assuming that’s the right size.

Quoted from stashyboy:I'm not a Gottlieb woodrail expert, but I think games with the painted cream color coin door would have the cream legs. (PBR may stock) Of course you can paint yours, or powder coat.
Thanks Mark. I guess I’ll powder these cream colored for now, and look for some wooden legs. I definitely like that look better. Whether it’s OEM or not. I’m going to do a full restore on this one at some point.
Quoted from stashyboy:Great to see you diversifying your collection/ skills
Haha. Whatever dude!! I’m always diversified.
I’ve been on the hunt for one of these for quite a while, and Shay finally hooked me up with one of his.
Quoted from Silverstreak02:Very nice. I like the blue board. It makes it pop.
It does look good. I’ve seen it somewhere
before
My Vampire board was disgusting before I did something with it.

Here's a shot of it inside the cab....
Damn man, that thing looks super sweet. Great work.
Quoted from A_Bord:You going to start a restore thread for this thing? If really enjoy following along.
I definitely will when I start it. This game is a keeper for me, so will probably get the same level treatment my Safari got. Will probably be a winter project.
Just pulled my homey Halloween playfield out and onto the rotisserie. Have to finish that first.

I am. Had to do a few touchups and one more coat of clear on the top playfield. Was just there an hour ago finishing it up. Should be cured by Wednesday night. The upper playfield is just as sick.
Quoted from stashyboy:"Plated side rail cigarette holders!"
I need to get some of those too. Of course this is missing them. PBR might have some laying around.
Thanks JR and Bruce. It looks like red legs until I find wooden ones.
Quoted from PlanetExpress:Just had to look them up at PBR for my new Captain Kidd: GTB-A3623+ for flat rail games cigarette holders.
Nice. Thanks for the info.
Quoted from illawarra92:the ones you need for your game are these: https://www.pbresource.com/signatur/gtb-A3889.jpg

The OP chimes in! Awesome. Thanks.

Quoted from Mopar:I'm pretty sure I already
know the answer but I'd figure I'd ask. These have never been reproduce, have they?
Not that I know of. Reach out to Chris Zumwalt in Texas. He might be able to find a scanned file and run you off two or three.
Quoted from A_Bord:Seems like a no-go unless there are more people than me looking for one. PM me if interested.
I’d be down for three or four sets to have on hand. If we can get up to the 25 pricing mark.
Quoted from docquest:More progress on my Team One to Wizard conversion. Tonight was my first time taking an entire score motor apart and removing all the switch stacks to give it all a thorough cleaning.
Coming out very nice.
I would probably go with the mustard on the transformer board as well.
Quoted from EMsInKC:Starting the cab restore on my first game Bally Surfers, owned since 1971
Nice. Always feels good to get the first bit of primer on there and smooth it out.
Quoted from EMsInKC:Just search neon pinball machine clocks and they show up.
Just make sure it's "clocks". I just got some weird results by mistyping.
Quoted from ourdave76:Goes with the avatar!
Seeing a "hen" would have been a blessing.
