Quoted from Playdium:I'm currently working on a Bank Shot. Haven't worked on an Add A Ball in awhile. But I have old 27" legs that I have been experimenting with vinegar. It works amazingly. No more Evaporust for me.
How does that work? Just wipe it down with vinegar or do you need to soak the entire leg?
Quoted from DrWaz:How does that work? Just wipe it down with vinegar or do you need to soak the entire leg?
Soak it like you would in evaporust I believe

I bought a piece of PVC pipe 4" wide and glued a cap to the bottom. I put 2 legs in and 3 days later I just wiped off the surface rust. Buy the vinegar at HD that comes in half gallon containers. I just buy the cheap stuff.
Quoted from AviRoo:1968 Gottlieb Domino. Point score was locking on then not locking on, It's a bit of mess to figure out but there's a separate thread if you can be bothered to read through it. First pinball machine i've ever owned/bought so i'm happy.

Glad to see you finally got a pinball!

Thank you! I wish the 10 points wasn't flip flopping between issues but i guess it could be worse haha

Thanks, I may have to try that.

After soaking these, rinse with water and wipe them dry. I then use Mother's with 0000 steel wool and polish. I was very happy with the results.

My compliments. I thought I was doing a thorough job on my restores but your depth and attention to detail is something I’ll aspire to.

Thanks man! I use my addictive personality and obsessive compulsiveness to my advantage with this hobby. Outside of restorations it ruins my life hahaha

Beautiful work sir. I’d love to find a Space Mission or the 2 player Space Odyssey to restore.
Working on TeamOne to Wizard conversion #12. After this, 4 more to go... Cab painted and webbed, pf built. Bottom board stripped and rebuilt. Lightboard converted. Will start the art paint tomorrow .

Can we all pause and have a moment of silence for another "Team One" that bit the dust? Lot's of work there Ken. What do you estimate the number of hours to create each one?

I actually have an obituary thread going...
https://pinside.com/pinball/forum/topic/rip-teamone-s-obituary-listing
Its about 80 hours/2 weeks to turn out a Wiz. Still need 1 more TeamOne to finish out the builds. Althou Im tempted to contract with Wade for a mini run of 10 more pieces.

You gotta move to the next game so we can start collecting them. Something rare and interesting; EM joker poker, loch Ness, krull, mermaid, Neptune, etc.

I can't imagine doing that many of the same game in a row. I would be bored to tears. One of the things I like about this hobby is The variety it can hold. I usually have 3 or 4 projects going at once and like to juggle them when appropriate. Of course, I've never been one for any kind of repetitive 'real life' work either! My hats off to you for being able to stay with the project that long and finish it out.

yea, Im interjecting a customer restore in between Wiz builds right now... need my sanity. Polishing side rails and coin doors a real pain. PF swaps I actually enjoy.
1977 Williams Hot Tip
Game would allow a maximum of 2 players. 1 and 2 player worked fine. Could not select a 3 or 4 player game. This did not surprise me as the game was wired incorrectly at the factory, allowing 1 horseshoe to credit horseshoe 2 and 3 to advance with each each turn of the score motor, whether you earned another horseshoe or not. It made the game way too easy to win replays and extra balls. The high score feature was also cranked up to 570,000 on a 3 ball game. Thanks to my friend Larry for finding the incorrectly wired switches on the score motor to fix the over-awarding of the horseshoes
I suspect the ridiculous high score award and limiting the game to a maximum of 2 players was a response to try to get the game to earn money. I’m just guessing but it makes sense the original operator made these adjustments.
Since the game was malfunctioning it was time to open the manual and schematic. First stop on the schematic was the lamp section to see what unit lit the lamps on player 3 and 4. This turned out to be the coin unit. Back to the manual to see which unit is the coin unit since a few mechanism identifying labels were missing. Found a normally closed switch pair pointing to the ground, clearly not where it should be. Solution? Adjust NC switches to only open after player 4 was selected, instead of the switches opening incorrectly after the player 2 was selected. Now I have a 4 player game again.
1953 Globe Trotter - re-working the 10K Unit 3" bell configuration. Based on the info I've gleaned from PBR's factory photos of a large selection of woodrails, the 3" bell on many games from about late 1950 to early 1953 was attached to the drive coil housing cover, and engaged via stepper drive arm and attached drive arm pin.
The problem on so many of these configured games (including mine) is that the bell and/or pin are missing, the arm is mangled or broken, or the original coil cover is long gone, replaced with a solid cover with no bell attachment hole. Fortunately my 10K unit has a functional arm. I will be making a new pin from 3/8 inch steel rod, and drilling/tapping a 3/8 inch screw hole into the coil housing in order to mount the 3" bell. Will be awesome having a machine with 3 bells actually working in tandem once again.
clapper (resized).jpg Here's my first Flipper Series Pin I picked up back in the early/mid 90s.
After being stored for many years, I brought it back out, and this
afternoon I once again finished going through her.
I had 3 F.C.s and all had nice playfield's, but this ones the nicest.
Virtually no wear or markings at the upper arch..
After a few more trial games, she'll be hitting the line up..
Quoted from EJS:I’ve been all over the place recently.

One of the dirtiest games I’ve worked on in awhile. Lot of empty cigarette packages inside the cabinet. Probably not from the people I bought it from but they smoked too. Also the rubber rings were actually hose/tubing that probably degraded.
The good news it’s cleaning up well.
The cabinet repaint was brutal but worth it.
This one is a keeper and yes very happy to be part of the middle pop club with this game.

This game has it all, art, animation, rototarget and AAB. Wish I still had mine.
Working on a Gottlieb Bronco. Replaced the burnt game over relay so that now works. Game plays great except it won’t go to ball 2,3,4,5. Just repeats ball 1. If I manually move the stepper in the back it does, but not on it’s own. I am sure it is just one small thing I am missing but so frustrating. Anyone help me pinpoint?

look at your U 1st ball relay. That normally needs to be replaced as well/burnt. As soon as something is scored, 1st Ball relay pulls in and stays pulled in throughout game and in game over... Once 1st ball pulls in in should allow player unit to step up

I misspoke. U relay is the cooked one I replaced. It works good. But not advancing to ball 2 unless I manually do it in the back.

Open up a main thread with this, HowardR will most likely post a diagram piece to show you what to debug/test with an alligator jumper to simulate/bypass supposedly closed switches.
Spent the last couple of months restoring this 1955 Wiliams Three Deuces. Used polyurethane dropper method to level badly cupped inserts. They were too brittle to remove. Rebuilt score motor and all steppers. Removed rust from all rollover wire forms. Restored painted over coin door to original design, and did some pf paint touchup
Some before and after pics.
Looking forward to playing but working out a tech issue just posted in EM tech.

Thanks Mark. Mean Green works great as a degreaser on mechanics and steppers. Bench buffer for polishing. There are some good YouTube’s for rebuilding pop bumpers, stepper units and flippers. After sanding woodrails I used rub on poly - much cleaner and no odor that you get with rattle can.

1977 Williams Lucky Seven
Sent out this playfield for restoration as it was beyond my capabilities to restore it. The entire playfield was planked and the inserts were loose and sunken. I thought I was ready with the parts cleaned, tumbled, re-sleeved and ready to reinstall. Not quite yet. Thanks to Tim and the crew at Las Vegas Playfields for the transformation. They do very nice work.

Restoring Williams Rocket. Cleaned very dirty PF with Novus 2 and then 99.9% alcohol and magic eraser and repeated both. Touched up a lot of missing paint. Next will level inserts with polyurethane drip method. Then more cleaning and clear. Before and After pics.
