Finishing up Free Fall. One of the last hard to find repro coin doors.....If anyone has a nice left slingshot plastic that isn't yellowed, please let me know. I have patched the current broken one, but for a restoration like this, would prefer fully intact.
Thanks
My Bowling Queen one’s score reel started sticking and after pulling the reels in and out to rebuild them, the plastic channels that hold the score reels in place started cracking and breaking apart which is known to happen on these older Gottliebs. Often the top or bottom channel edge where the cotter pin holds the score reel will break and if you’re lucky only one of them will crack so you can have at least one pin holding the reel. But these were totally gone and had to be replaced.
Until recently these channels were impossible to find. Fortunately John at Space Coast Pinball has made very nice replicas of the plastic channels (I guess with 3D printing) and sells them on Pinside. I drilled out the old rivets and bought new 3/32” x 7/32” brass rivets from Pinball Resource. The base of the new channel is a little thicker than the original so you’ll need 7/32” rivet length rather than the original Gottlieb 5/32” length. Since the rivets are tiny and relatively soft they were easy to bang in place using a steel nail punch and hammer on top of a steel vise. (A number of threads on Pinside discuss various methods for riveting.) You can also use #2 screws and nuts to secure the channels but the rivets are easy to install and I like to restore to the original.

Those look great. Many people will want to upgrade those.

Thanks for the rivet info. I’ve replaced several of the newer style guides with the tabs that break off and used screws and nuts. I’d prefer the original look.

Just finished bringing this Aladdin’s Castle back to life. Just waiting for a broken slingshot coil bracket to arrive. Turned into a nice player.

Working my way through a 1955 Williams Three Deuces - cleaning all the relay contacts and very rusty wire forms for the rollovers. Just cleaned and polished a very dirty score motor. Used dawn soap and water and then cleaned with wire wheel on the bench buffer. I found this early Williams score motor a lot easier to disassemble and clean than the later Gottlieb wedgeheads score motors.
Bally Nip It Bonus/Ball Count
End of ball bonus and ball count not working. Game would not award bonus and not step up to the next ball or end game. I had fixed this problem before without knowing how I fixed it. My previous repair lasted about 2 weeks until it stopped working correctly.
Solution was found on the lowest arm of the 3 arms on the bonus unit. Adjustment was good so I cleaned the wiper arm and disc contact. Still functioning properly after about 20 test games.

Cleaned up the playfield, some touchup work on the head. Quite a bit left to do. Gonna be nice.[quoted image][quoted image][quoted image][quoted image]
Home use only? Or just well cared for?
Quoted from MikeO:Home use only? Or just well cared for?
Home use for a long time, but not well cared for.
Some planking in the pink and yellow on the left. I've touched that up and Matt will do more plus spot clear.
I played it before bringing it home, thentime unit appeared to be working but so many bulbs were out, who knows?
Pretty dirty but complete. Kind of a novel game so we grabbed it.
Just finished this “300” with my buddy pinhead52 on tap for troubleshooting help. Full cabinet redo, new backglass, new plastics s. Playfield was deep cleaned, few touch ups here and there and then waxed and shopped. Stainless regrained/polished as usual.
LOTS of gremlins were hiding in this one!! pinhead52 earned his fee!!

Picked up this very rare gem a year ago and just getting to it now. Bally Black Jack EM.
Cleaning up really nicely. BG was trashed so have a BG resto ready to install into it once I am done with the playfield.
The thing I do like better on the SS version is the saucer sound effect when you beat the dealer.
On the SS when going into the saucer, it gives a 1,2,3,4 note 3 times then scores.
The EM just sounds that annoying "Over the Top" buzzer that sounds like your laundry is done. I clipped the wire going to that buzzer
for now. Would love some ideas on what to install for a sound effect or light effect instead for this clipped wire to drive.
Anything is better than that buzzer.

I have the same game and the “Over The Top” Bally buzzer for each “Winner” was too much to take. It is not an appropriate indication of anything but an Over The Top score on the Bally games I had played up until Black Jack. For my solution I found a 6 volt bell and made some modifications to splice it in to the existing Black Jack wiring harness. Now each Winner sounds similar to an old Bally EM Money Honey slot machine jackpot. The photo shows the bell in the old buzzer position with no mods but a couple screw holes just prior to final installation.

I like your solution!
Where can I buy one of these?

When tuned in perfectly, it's a fun machine to play.
Quoted from DRDAVE:Would love some ideas on what to install for a sound effect
I was thinking some digital sound effect similar to the coin drop of winning a small jackpot on a slot machine.

Here is the bell I used from Amazon. Cover was removed to allow access to mounting holes. 2 buzzer wires from the harness attach to the wires from the bell unit after removing the banana plugs on the bell.
What a sweet looking pin !

Card Whiz is almost ready to join the lineup. Cleaned, waxed, new Titan rubber, cleaned all the switches and adjusted. Had a few gremlins to track down, but everything is working correctly now.

Just need to rebuild the coin door with a better spare I have, as someone beat the coin return with a hammer.

My spare door isn’t the stock flat one, but it’ll look fine when put together.

Nice looking machine. First time I've ever seen one.
1972 Williams Super Star
I installed some orange Comet 2-headed monsters to illuminate both sides of the 1-5 orange button rollovers. I liked the look but the leds showed how dirty the buttons were. Removed them from the game and soaked them in household degreaser inside an ultrasonic cleaner for about 30 minutes. Looks good now.
1977 Bally Night Rider
I had wondered why the bumper caps had “When Lit” on them until I saw a Night Rider set on 5 ball. My games are all on 3 ball. As soon as I unplugged the 3 or 5 from the 3 side one bumper, one spinner, and one ball return lane went dark. Exactly what I wanted except I wanted it 3 ball play. I was able to “insulate” one pin on the jones plug to get this alternator function to work on 3 ball. Looks cool and makes the game a little bit more difficult.
1977 Gottlieb Centigrade 37
Match feature not working. This occurred after I explained what a match feature was to a novice player. He matched, no replay. Of course. Started with cleaning the FS 00-90 relay followed by the pcb on the tens score reel. Still no joy. Cleaned all the male jones plugs and tightened the female sides. Cleaned the related score motor switches. Still not working. I thought I had checked the gaps on the O relay. Apparently not as the switch pair related to the match feature were gapped too far apart to make. Doh! Easy repair in the end.
I needed a little help to figure out the next problem. Scoring a special would restart the game. Turns out I had a short on one credit reel switch pair. Special now awards a replay and does not start a new game. All credit for this repair to our friend in Vancouver. Much appreciated.
Brought this home a couple weeks ago. Great poor score. Really good shape cosmetically. Had a fried coil and a few loose wires in the back box obvious right from 1st look.. Should clean up real nice. Bonus that it even has what I think are the original coin trays/ box in it!
Will fit it real nice between Oktoberfest! And Dixieland my other zipper flipper!
37716 games on the meter.
Finished up the lightboard on Travel Time.
Working on this game reminds me how much I enjoy working on Williams games, especially the score reels. Just a better and simpler design all the way around. And the reels themselves can be cleaned in a manner that would leave Gottlieb reels bare of numbers.
A first for me on this one. Not one, but two broken off chime bars.

Bought this game as a blank playfield that had been stripped 20 years ago by previous owner, who subsequently passed away. Then wife sold the machine as is, so was a manky cabinet, stripped playfield and a box of parts with heaps of stuff missing.
Got it functional, will play for a while and then look at restoring cabinet, door, apron etc. Such an awesome game, and hosted a competition the other weekend and it was definitely a crowd favourite. Even better, our kids absolutely love it!
Working on this Bronco. Cleaned it, new rubbers and LED’s. Now just gotta figure out why a game wont start. I’m a novice on EM’s so trying to learn

i don't think that post between the flippers is supposed to be there. looks like a ball can't drain if the flippers are down.

Yeah a previous owner stuck that there and epoxy’ed it in. I left it and put a rubber on it.
Just about done a 1967 Chicago Coin Bullseye Baseball, brought back from the dead.
New playfield (all airbrushed), quarter sawn oak deck, repainted cab, new targets, new side art, new back glass (not shown). All done by me off the original beat up parts.
Fun to learn a new manufacturer.

Looks better than new and terrific.
But aren't most pitch and bats made with plexi playfields, that rarely need touching up,
maybe not this one?

I don't know too much about pitch and bats, only played one once before I got this project. The original playfield is good old plywood. It was pretty beat but not unrecoverable. Thought it would be a good candidate to attempt a brand new playfield since there are not too many holes to deal with. I mostly wanted to see how hard it would be and if it could be done.
The original used "flesh" colour for the player's faces and the field. I changed the field colour to be less fleshy. This is a shot with black partially applied to the new playfield.
