The flyer shows the metal lock bar with the chrome ends caps.
Looks like an interesting game, don’t think I’ve ever seen one before. I’d be interested to hear how much fun it is to play when you get it finished.

Thanks and I will either post on here or start a new thread as I work on and finish it. But it was playing before I tore it down. And it’s kind of interesting since as much as I hate gobble holes, it only has two and no outlanes so that was kind of a fair trade. But I only played part of two games so I didn’t damage the PF any further. Current condition and pics of lock bar. Anyone know what game or games it came from?

Just brought this one home today and it’s in pretty decent shape including a nice backglass.

Looks like it’s a fun game and I’m looking forward to fixing it up but as you can see, the former owner replaced all the pool ball playfield inserts with plain white one except for the 3 and 5 up top.

They are nice and level but I sure would like to have the numbers on them. Short of finding someone parting one out, does anyone know of any type of number stencils out there for this? Maybe to use with a black oil based paint pen.

Thanks.

Water slide decals would be very easy to make since you just need numbers and the circle. Unfortunately you would need to clear coat the playfield to protect them. If you go that route let me know. I have a file for the colored balls.

Wife's from San Antonio and her mother lives in Houston now... good memories of road trips, great restaurants, but I was thinking more of a great dive dance hall but wife says that's the Gruene dance hall, not in Spring... oh well.

Thanks for the info and I always clearcoat after playfield touch ups so that would be no problem.

Last year I sold my (nice playing) Subway to a Fellow Collector (which was his grail pin),
and since I had a somewhat open week, I'm going through the other one. Picked it up
last year, but just a couple days ago I noticed 13 of the Jewel Post were replaced with plastics,
but fortunately I had extra..
I've been installing toggle switches on the 60s machines, but the past few months I've been
splicing in switches (from Digi-Key) that when pushed it, it cuts the circuit, and when released,
the circuit is once again complete. Just takes like a 7/32" hole, and spliced into the Kick-Off switch..
She's all gone through and playing. Rebuilt the Thumpers. Just need to shop out the rest of the
playfield..

.

I picked up a basket case Fast Draw when I was already doing a Quick Draw. It seemed like fate as I had already committed to two playfields from Wade Krause to get them run. All done, waiting on Shay’s latest reproduction backglass with orange dress to finish Fast Draw.

Last year I helped someone out a little bit and sold my working Subway, but having an
AAB Wedge Head collection, I had to put another back into the line up and just finished
her up this morning. The playfield's nice, but still might have lost a small decimal on this
one's condition, but surly not on it's performance. Plays nice. The slings can easily bring
the ball back up to the top..

20210517_142209 (resized).jpg20210517_142209 (resized).jpg1960 Gottlieb Merry Go Round. Mostly back together, getting plastics done on it. It has multiple issues right now but getting closer. Was a total basket case when I got it.

Playfield has weird cracking that I've seen on othe MGR playfields. We decided to do some repainting but mostly left it as kind of a sort of restored/patina hybrid. Playfield has been cleared to keep it as is. Cab was repainted, bgresto backglass.

I go all the way when I do restores, no half measures. This playfield is getting touched up and clearcoated 1st to allow time to cure while the rest is in work. I had a clearcoated playfield insert move on me once while polishing it.. ONCE. Since then if there is any doubt I'll remove and reglue inserts. It also gives you the opportunity to level them.

Touchups basically done, will clear this week.

My Merry Go Round is pretty nice. Wish I knew what caused the playfield to have the cracking. Never seen it like this on any other game.

Yeah, this one is decent shape to start with. The play meter says around 25,000 plays which isn’t much. Most of the game shows this. Even the legs look brand new with no corrosion or rust whatsoever. And it plays through a single player game. I haven’t tested it for a multiplayer game. I normally go through every single mech and switch on a game. I may be selective/strategic with this one if it continues to play OK.

If you were a beginner I'd say what the hell are you thinking. That's as bad as Grand Prix. I want to restore mine and I normally do what you do but GP just intimates me. So many places to go in the ditch. It's working fine so I leave it alone.

Yea that pin looks extremely clean all the way around. I too go through them top to bottom. I have only restored 4 EM’s and am still learning to troubleshoot specific problems. So sometimes it’s easier for me to identify a general area where the issue must be and go through that entire area. Score reels with 9 and zero positions come to mind. Hold relays, stuck pf switches, Jones plugs, exc.

On my Big Deal it was so dirty it was a no brainer to go through it in detail. Burnt coils, broken wires, dead rat, all the goodie’s.

#2486 2 years ago

Just finished Bank Shot and moved it to the lineup to take the inaugural game. No better feeling. (This one had some mis-wiring to discover and undo, and unfortunately I think I lost an insert during the 6 month project. Maybe it’ll turn up.)

Working on a 1964 Gottlieb Sea Shore restoration. Replaced broken switches, cleaned all the steppers and switches, rebuilt flippers and roto target and everything is working great and scoring accurately.

Cleaned nicotine stained cabinet with Mean Green.

Cleaned number score reels with soap and water.

Flattened the plastics in 190 deg oven and then cleaned with novus.

Replaced all the torn and yellowed relay labels and pasted with glue stik.

Yesterday I used Evapo-Rust for the first time and very happy with the resuts for the coin plate and coin door. Had to first strip off the gold paint, then soaked the parts in evaop-rust overnight and buffed with Mother's mag polish.

Still to go: PF is in pretty good shape but needs a good cleaning and waxing. Pop bumper caps all good. Replacing all rubbers.

Did you get new decals for the roto target? Those look great.
Alberto

Quoted from Wylte:

First EM I ever played! Please take lots of good pictures while you have it stripped down, it would be great to be able to update the virtual version

I already own a Sea Shore and love the theme and game play and picked up this project with the confidence that I could refer back to the one I have. Hoping to restore this one for a possible trade or sale.

The flippers were chewed up and I rebuilt with new parts from PBR and now the snappiest of all my games.

The roto target numbers are in decent shape but the mechanism was gummed up and had to be cleaned and polished to work right.

1965 Gottlieb Buckaroo. Too late to test Buckaroo until today on 3 ball play. The changes from 5 ball is interesting. At the top making A spots C and making B spots D. Also at the start of the game both numbers displayed on the roto are spotted. I also replaced 2 bulbs in the backglass with LED’s. The “tilt” light and the “over”light in “game over” were changed to LED to increase legibility. I am quite pleased with result. And I cleaned the back side of the backglass because it was a little filmy.
Also Buckaroo and the Central Park next to it are 2 of the cabinets I repainted back to original before there were stencils.

I had the cabinet repainted back to original with Pimp stencils, bumper bodies, skirts, and caps from Pinball Resource, and I replaced the center collect bonus plastic with one from Pinball Rescue. This game was very nice to start with. Purchased in Nampa, Idaho circa 1993.
