Old meets new.

My complete restoration is making small steps in it's process.

Quoted from Sea_Wolf:

Damn sweet. Great job.

Didn't need a lot. Just clean and shine everything. Mechanically, the motor was stuck, and a zero position switch on one of the score reels was out. It's working now, but I'm going to tend to some of the steppers in the head.

Well, just about that time of the year, and Bristol is just about ready for the line up.
Just have to get a ball count (showing the ball it's on) made for the instruction card..
She's not in superior shape, but decent and does play strong..

Just completed my restoration of a German import Four Million BC.
When I started on it I discovered the tar pit mech was missing. Thanks zacaj for hooking me up with one! Full rebuild of everything and restencils, too. It's turned out to be a beautiful machine!
Now I just need to move it out of the shop and into my basement arcade. This was a fun restore.

Working on a Gottlieb Straight Shooter that had been stored for a long time. These three steppers on the PF were seized up and need to be fully disassembled and cleaned up. Question: since these are one way steppers, I’m assuming I don’t need to worry about a home position and just need to make sure the contacts are aligned. Can anyone confirm?

Nice job. Came out nice!
I have a Hurdy in the game room and another in a local Ice Cream Parlor.
In the Summer, the Kids love it..
There's a couple other things in the works, but this will be the next machine
I'll periodically be working on..

I've always liked this game, but never owned one. I did buy a backglass though, because I really love the artwork on it.
Dick White's best effort imho.

It's unique and kinda cool. I restored one for a customer several summers ago. Game is quick and snappy, but for me, I tired of it quickly.

I'm redoing the art on my Chicago Coin 'Bullseye' pitch & bat targets.

I *think* the material they are screen printed on is this: https://www.mcmaster.com/vulcanized-fiber/ ; 3/32" thick.

Anyone have experience cutting this stuff? Thinking to just use my compound miter saw and chopping away.

The existing targets are screenprinted and were covered in a clear (thin) plastic like mylar (but crappier, it was 1967). Suggestions on what to use for replacement art? Some kind of laminated sticker?

Scott, as soon as I saw that photo, I was immediately going to post the same thing, you beat me to it. Great minds think alike!

He brought me half the game. Got the playfield and motor board done. Waiting for the rest of it.
He has another playfield that I'm going to use for some parts.
These relays have the screws broken off in them. Hopefully, I can salvage some from the other playfield.

Finally able to get back to Flipper Fair.

The red board on two coils was broken, on the alternating relay and the #1 relay.

True to this machine, two wire sets popped off the #1 relay because I looked at them too hard. This machine is so bad about that I take pictures of any relay before I touch it in case more than one wire set jumps off, so I can put it back in the right place.

On the bright side, I bet that fixed the problem with the flickering #1 rollover and #1 pop bumper (their lamps are wired together). Next step is refurbishing the pops.

This game doesn't get much love, but it made the owner very happy to pick it up this morning.! It's actually pretty fun when set up correctly. Has the same upper corner shots as Big Hit and 3" flippers bring it up to honorable mention in the Gottlieb baseball themed wedgehead competition.

Played this game tons at a Zayre department store in Alexandria VA... it sat next to a GTB Royal Guard and a Buckaroo... all games in great shape and always worked perfectly... Michaels Vending in Northern Virginia - one of the best operators a young pinballer could ever have. You're right, set up properly and flip mechs at 100%, vari-targets between conservative and liberal, and you've got a solid machine.

Hi every body.
Nice job Pinhead52.
EK EM, for me one of the best EM pinball, nice and very good to play.
Perhaps your next job will be the Mata Hari EM.
Good day.

After 5 months and many distractions, I finally got back on board with my 4MBC. To be honest, the grays are kicking my butt. The other colors weren't as difficult. I've gotta admit that before I started the pop bumper area, I was a little intimadated, but had to remind myself that this is a players+, quality game.
Many thanks to Enaud for sending me some reference pics.

Anyone with the hood up on a Williams EM with a Bonus Unit under the play field able to tell me what the STD-# is on the label? Trying to recreate the label and I didn't get a clear pic of the number before I scraped it off.

EDIT: Cancel that, found a rebuild video on YouTube and its STD. 35

That game is a total classic. The early 70s Gottlieb baseball games need far more attention and appreciation.

World Series/Grand Slam are great. I think that might have been my very first pinball experience in the mid-70s.

Agreed. One of my earlier projects when I got into the hobby was a mint World Series. It had been stored in a closed storage trailer for many years. The bullseye on the head (and rest of body) had very little fade and played great. I rank that layout as my #2 favorite bball themed wedgehead.

Wow! Looks like you found a stunningly nice condition Play Ball. Congrats. I've often see them in far worse condition. I recalled playing the game as a teen and picked one up, but had to do quite a bit of touchup and refurb on mine. It can indeed be a fun game. I like the sounds it produces with the standard chime box, plus the 5" bell for runs scored. When you score points/runs that fire the chimes, ring the bell, and fire the knocker too, you really get treated to a symphony.

Have been working on getting this Williams “set up” playing perfectly. A guy I know is getting it for his son as a surprise Christmas present(they are a big skiing family). I haven’t touched it cosmetically, but it plays great now. Nothing too serious, just lots of removing old gummed up lube off just about everything.. ugh.. a broken spring, switch adjustments, two shorted flipper coils giving the machine-gun effect, some stuck plungers and a good cleaning.

As you can see in the photo, I have two of these. One has upper flippers and one doesn’t. The upper flippers make the game WAY more fun, so that’s the one I’ll be passing along. I’ve never met the kid, but I imagine he’s going to freak out when he sees this thing.

Ahhh, you should have seen what I started with. Heavy touch up on the cabinet. Backglass has lots of flaking, looks ok after extensive touch ups, and playfield was blownout. Donor game used that had really roached cabinet paint. Appreciate the props even if a misconception.

You need to send photos of the game with the 4 flipper set up, from above and below the Playfield, to ipdb.org;
Also send along the serial numbers of the two games if you can.

Most WMS Set Up pins (the AAB) only had the 2 flipper set up.
While the Replay Seven Up had 4 flippers

I’ve brought two of these back to life, and am fully aware of what they are, the rarity of the upper flippers, and anything else it says on IPDB.. but thanks for the primer!

Someone has already provided images of the inside and playfield of the game with 4 flippers.. Not sure what “need” they’d have for additional photos? Especially considering it’s extremely unlikely that mine are factory, as the wires are plastic covered, (not the original cloth), and were poorly soldered. I could be wrong, but I don’t think IPDB is too keen on posting mods..
