Nice, had a DAC for a while. Was a game I loved to hate playing.

That looks great! It must be a tough play, trying to hit those sideways drop targets with the small flippers

The AAB version is much better.

DAC was the game in college in 1974 that hooked me on pinball. It was the one game in the dorm game room that was three games for a quarter where the rest were only 2 games for a quarter. Being able to win games and keep playing was perfect back then. Had no idea that AAB was a thing.

But based on opinions here I let my DAC go because I was able to find a nice PAC. Now to get it shopped to really experience it. I hate it when work gets in the way of pinball.

By the early 70s, 2 games for a quarter was the going rate. Less than 10 cents a game was a deal..
Back in the early/mid 90s, a working buddy that read the water meters said that there was a pinball
in this repossessed house. I went there, the door was unlocked, Kids used it for a partying place, but
the pinball was fine. It was a Drop-a-Card. By phone, I bugged the lady at the bank for a couple weeks,
and she gave in and met me there and picked it up for $25.00 It was like my 4th pinball machine and
didn't even know about Replay machines, but I did know that I didn't care for it's game play too much and
it's still in storage still in decent shape..
Since then, a Friend said that he really liked his Pop-a-Card, so I traded in a pretty nice one. I haven't
gone through it yet, but plan on doing so before too long..

Recently got all the electromechanics working on this Stardust. (Playfield restoration done by owner @grusom.)

Next projects are figuring out why the red pops on Heat Wave sometimes get stuck down, and then start on the Flipper Fair project.

Pulled a bow and arrow out of an unheated junk shop in VT. It was literally piled above, around, and underneath with layers upon layers of junk. I wish I’d taken a picture before I spent the better part of an hour clearing everything away, but I did remember to grab a shot before I carted it out.

Serviced or rebuilt all the steppers and soaked the flash motor in alcohol to free it up. It still whines a bit (getting better the more it runs) and skips over one of the insert lights, but I’ll get it dialed. Cleaned and adjusted the score reels and gapped any switches that needed it.

Ordering sleeves to replace all the metal ones, and will rebuild flippers/ pops and put new skirts and rubber on.

Now that I have it working 100%, going to touch up a couple spots on the playfield and install a playfield protector that’s on the way from Germany. I bought a set of used plastics just to get a replacement for the broken sling.. still deciding if I’ll buy replacement pop-bumper caps.

The backglass is near perfect , which is surprising given the wildly varying temperatures of its previous location. The cab is really nice on one side, but peeling on the other, so I’ll put that side facing a wall. Maybe repaint it some day.

The game will be a surprise gift for my parents. They lived together in a tipi up until I was born, and my dad just spent 5 years living in one again (year round in western NY!). They have lots of beautiful native /western artwork in their house, and the Marche artwork will be a nice addition to their basement. They aren’t into pinball at all, but it’ll be a riot to have when my young nephews visit.

It's one of those Bally backglasses which always seems to be found in good condition. There are several, mostly multi-player backglasses which seem to be impervious to the thermal damage which typically ruins most other backglasses.

It's a very interesting game, not sure I've had the pleasure to play one though, seen several beat ones over the years. Can't tell from the phoo

No question, not even close. I remember when Abra came out... we loved the look but something was missing. Team One is one of my favorite DT games, and with the re-make, it's gonna really be something.

I was referring to "Pop A Card", but I do agree that "Team One" is a great player, but not so good a looker.
The "Wizard" conversion is the best of both worlds, between T.O. and Abra.

Williams 3 Coins playfield paint touch up and clear coat finished. Clean and flattened plastics, new rubbers and pop bumper caps. Just have to replace a few target faces and then on to the cabinet repaint.

A few before and after pics of the machine that sat idle for close to 30 years. Really liking this Pin and I never thought I’d enjoy one this old.

I was not aware that Williams used that type of score motor. Looks like a Gottlieb score motor at first look.

No manuals for that era Williams. Rules are similar to Palooka. Knock down all 4 drop targets, rinse and repeat. You win replays instead of extra balls.

Williams used similar equipment to Gottlieb in those days. Score motor, as well as back box design with tilt back light board/lift out glass from behind.

Starting to figure out the rules by actuating switches and looking at the schematic. The Advance Unit stepper was seized (no surprise) along with the credit unit and the match unit. That’s all being sorted out.

I’m looking forward to getting this game playing

Working on a Bally Rock Makers. Cleaned the playfield and checked all switches. Got a problem at start up, no power to playfield or backbox. Going to have to start checking voltages.

Bought this 1969 Williams Paddock some days ago. Cleaned all contacts and switches I could find, and now it resets and starts. The playfield is dirty but in good condition. The "A" bumper makes one of the backbox relays hang up, otherwise it seems like everything is working.

There is a relay that corresponds to the A pop bumper that gets pulled closed when the bumper pops. There’s an end of stroke switch that is opened when the pop bumper pulls all the way down. When the EOS switch opens, it releases the relay. As long as the relay is closed it’s going to keep the 1 point or 10 point (when lit) score relay in the back box energized. So, either your pop bumper isn’t popping or the EOS switch is shorted.

You’ll probably want to start a new thread on this.

Black Jack is now number 1 in the shop. Had to clear up some issues on other games before I could start on this one again. Thanks to Larry in Olympia for his help with the other games.

We had everything working on this game then the “Winner” horn stopped working. It is the same as the “Over the Top” horn on some of the last Bally EM games. I did find a used Bally horn replacement, but the 3-figure price, while justified, left me looking for alternatives. Then I remembered my old Bally Money Honey slot machine had a bell for each “Winner”. So I started looking for a 6 vac bell and found one for $14. I think the bell is more appropriate for a winner than a horn. I will photograph the bell after I get it installed.

Here is a photo or two of the shop job starting. I think the playfield will clean up.

Please post a video of some gameplay / tutorial once you have it dialed in, along with winner bell/horn sounding.

I obtained mine from some old retired couple in Arkansas off of eBay, if I remember correctly,
but never got the time to get it up and working.

Is your Black Jack a Four player or two player? Looks like there were only 120 two players manufactured?

Working on cleaning up a Strato-flight. Can anyone confirm if these nuts are original?

I’d like to tumble them but it’s a nightmare trying to get the media out of these things when they’re done.

Mine was the rarer EM version, actually I had both the EM and SS at one time.
Can not remember if there is any real play or rules or scoring differences between the two.

Pretty sure those are original.

Instead of tumbling them, do this. Screw them onto a playfield post. Chuck the post into your drill. Dip the nut in chrome or metal cleaner. Hold a rag against the nut and hit the drill. On the first pass you'll come out with a whole lot of black on the rag. Move the nut a couple times to different areas on the rag. It will shine right up and way quicker than tumbling.

If you have a lot of rust drop them in Evaporust first.

I do that trick with carriage bolts. Good idea!

I love you collection. You are correct, this is the 2-player EM version of the 4-player solid state game. I have a new BGResto backglass ready to install. Also came with the original EM manual and schematic, schematic is my current record holder at about 25 feet long. My research also indicates 120 manufactured.

Working on a Bally Freedom. The playfield luckily cleaned up really well. Underneath is another story. Found at least one burnt/seized coil and there’s an oily substance over the entire motor/relay bank.

Almost have the entire machine cleaned and ready to troubleshoot
